Both look badass, and CHEAP! Do yourself a favor and find a local rei to look at it and see how it packs down. The poles inherently add some bulk but it should back down super nicely. I have something similar.

I planned that route to have 8-10 hours of actual driving time per day. Obviously it takes a lot longer than that since you have stops to eat, piss (multiply these by 4 if there are any females in the group), fill up with gas, stretch, etc.

My biggest problem is after a couple days, once it started to get dark my eyes would fatigue and be burning, and I’d have trouble focusing. Once I stopped for dinner and got moving again I’d get a second wind around 8 pm. If you did it during summer you get way more daylight which is definitely nice.

Completely the opposite effect for me. If I eat when I am driving a long distance, it puts me in a coma. So I just drink and eat candy

This was weird for me cause I’m usually exactly the same way. I think raging until 2-4 am every night and then driving all day threw me off.

The last time I went that late partying, most people on this site were in 7th grade. I get up now when I used to be coming in from a nite of partying.
