Cross-Country Road Trip On A Motorcycle

@Spam16v is gonna let me borrow the Super Tenere cuz he’s my homie.

I saw that thing at C&C, boy did it look intense!

I would do it next year and I would let someone use my car if they wanted to follow. I’ll have at least 25k extra miles left on my lease that will go to waste next October lol…

Come in August…don’t be a wuss!

I only have 13 days of vacation time right now. I wish I could but had to use it for medical issues but I’ll have 5.5 weeks of vacation time in September. I planned on doing this with my car to burn up some miles but that was before I bought the bike.

I might do a quick lap of the great lakes in August over labor day weekend.

@Haenszel can you shed some light in here for what are some key stops and routes?

Bump!

2 months and change away, super stoked for this!

So far we have:

Denver, CO
Horseshoe Bend
Pikes Peak
Zion National Park, Utah
Grand Canyon, AZ
Death Valley
Yosemite, CA
San Fran, CA

Cliff Jumping and Natural Swimming Holes as well. The one I found is in Supai, AZ right by GC. To access it you’ll have hike 8 miles by foot or by horse, pretty neat.

The rough travel numbers are: 60hrs and 3800+ miles(constant) but…that is via highway only, we will be traveling trails as well so the numbers will rise.

If it were me - and you were going to take your time and hang places…
I would go to chicago (8ish hrs?) then to Omaha Nebraska (8ish hours and a really cool downtown area called Old Market) then to denver (8ish hours)…probably your straightest route to CO that has cities actually worth stopping in.
Also, you’re better off skipping right through Denver and heading to Boulder to stay for the night (because its the coolest city in the country.), then head down to pikes peak which is maybe 1.5 hr south in COSprings

Plan is; getting to Colorado in 3 days, it’ll suck but oh well, it’s all boring up to that point anyway.

thats perfect then w/ equal 8hr trips each day. there is a 9% chance i will join.

*.0000009%

not sure of exact %, but it went down - you’re talking me out of it.

Once I get 4 weeks of vacation, something close to this is in the plans. Probably in a year or two.

I love how that map suggests that there is absolutely nothing to see south of what looks to be Jacksonville \ st Augustine lol

florida sucks! goddamn lawless swamp. except for st Augustine.

@XwalkerX link to the actual article?

Boulder kind of sucks, I wouldn’t waste the time going there at all.

@Jam that may have been a route someone on the car lounge mapped out but here is another article with a slightly different map that ventures a bit farther into that swamp

Stop saying trails. These are trails.

Super late comment but I just got a drz400sm, a 100 miles on it is painful. Definitely do not recommend that for a cross country trip.
