curb slam - need help

haha well i didn’t exactly try to drift outside of school, i was trying to beat that lights and i was going too fast and yeah, lol. i don’t go around saying i drift around town and so on lol. The light was amber so i quickly went thru and had to turn  that was a close call though, lol i still remmeber the principal telling me that i should be ashamed of myself and that she was going to call my dad. haha

lol mark, im just messin’ with ya.

Stop making the guy feel bad about it because everyone has gone through some mistakes while trying to drift or learn.

Just fix your car and next time when you are trying to attempt it you will automaticaly know how to recover because you will know what your car felt like before you made the mistake.

Just remember if your heading towards the curb and your rear wheels are going to smack just clutch/gas and keep turning away from it because it is easier to spin it away from the curb into the middle of the road pointing the wrong direction then it is to control the car if your completly sideways.

Am I right guys?

i seriously think you’re missing the point aswell. DO NOT DO THIS ON THE STREET, or atleast in town. Don’t act like an assclown and put somone elses lives in danger. “drifting” on the street, is NO differnt than street racing. And i hate hearing that another person was killed due to it. When you actually loose a friend/have freinds involved in the fatality of somone due to one of these acts, maybe you will understand.

The last thing i want to hear on here, or in the news is somone died becasue they flipped there car trying to drift on the street, or hit somone, becasue they can’t control there car.

Don’t be an idiot and try to justify the actions you are doing, be smart and keep it off the public streets. If not, like i said before, i hope you ditch it.

Ok im jut making a comment on the situation, im not encouraging to do a full race on the street im just explaining if you ever find an empty street with no cars and theres a turn coming up and you want to try it then go for it. Because I know for a fact many people who own RWD cars do a small drift here and there jut for the excitement. Im not saying do a drift from one block to another and try to keep it sideways lol.

And if everyone here goes “i never drift or try to slide my car on the streets” then there lying because ive seen 240’s on the streets try something.

Just save it for empty streets/roads or the track and not with cars near by you because if you do spin out you endanger other drivers on the road.

And ive lost some due to accidents on roads so I know what it feels like and the thoughts of them of the actions that theyve made and ive been in a serious car accident so im not encouraging anything.

im talking to much haha, just try to keep it to a minimum guys on the roads.

Anybody coming to cayuga drag strip today after 6 pm? im going to be there with a few guys.

WoWoW~ Talk about shit talkers… Could we kindly keep the thread on topic~~ Jeeez~

(xs420) ~~~ Where’d you get those prices from? I’m also slipped of coarse and knicked a curb a few nights back… Looking for a new Transverse Link w/ Balljoint (Control Arm), Stabilizor Connection Rod and a perhaps a new Tierod/Tierod End…

PDM has an OEM Control Arm with Whiteline bushings pressed in… I phink it’s a good deal at $110… with OEM bushings it’s about $50’s…

If your doing the work yourself… Lemme know how it goes…

sucks you crashed, shit happens, life goes on. I would go with the control arms someone suggested from PDM, then upgrade the rest of the parts-I look at it this way why spend alot of money on stock parts when upgraded parts are not much more. finding 240’s (s13 or s14) in the junk yard is far from easy . I would look at C-tune they have decent quality parts that are better than stock with a decent price. I have their RUCA’s and they seem to be holding up very nicely.

as for tie rods, get some TEINs sure they are alot but they can handle alot of abuse.

BTW, if you hit another curb expect to be replacing the parts again, that’s life

To all the cocky fucks here: lay off, post something useful or don’t post at all. This board isn’t here for you lame asses to flame new guys. You’ll all crash too eventually.

To xs420: If you’re in a hurry to get back on the road you dont have much choice but to get raped by a local shop. If you can wait, PM s14_2nv and he’ll hook you up with decent parts for cheap if he has them, also check online sites like http://www.courtesyparts.com/

hope that helps!

thanks for the helpful stuff
i picked up a control arm from S14_240sx (thanks again) and the shop im dealing with found some cheaper tie rods, about 20 bucks per

i ordered a new rim and all the work should start tomorrow, ill probably have it back on the road thursday

i appreciate the info/links

just a side note tho, if i wanted a civic, i wouldve bought a civic…
you wanna assume im all into hype, go ahead
im too busy with work and my own sh1t to worry about what any magazine says is cool, and i dont own a tv
im also willing to bet my insurance is less than half of most people who own a 240 seeing as how this is the first time ive ever mucked up a car in any way (read: i can handle my car…usually)

I see recomendations here of using tein tie rod ends. Just as a side note, you guys going out and buying the hardened inner tie rods I don’t agree with myself. Upgrade your outer ends so you can have roll centre adjustment but leave the inners stock. In the event you do hit something its better to bend an inner tie rod than destroy your steering rack.

Just though I’d add that as a tid bit.

Andrew.

Hmm,… Interesting way too look at it; I’ve actually got these on order… from what i understand about teh teins tho… is they can’t bused in conjunction with OEM…

I believe thats the inner tie rods that can’t be used with stock outer ends. However don’t quote me on that, because I haven’t used them first hand. Maybe look into a set of kazama outer ends then. They are about the same price and I havent heard about them not being compatable with stock inners. I’ll be grabing a set of those in future for basic fact of having roll centre adjustment.

Can someone confirm that the tein outer ends don’t work with stock inners? Or vice versa.

Andrew.

I believe thats the inner tie rods that can’t be used with stock outer ends.

actulally it’s both the teins are thichker and don’t fit naythign but thier own… however the idea of only upgradingthe rod end is spot on imo… while u can’t use teins ends…there are many other ends made by various other companies that work with stock and infact they have much more adjustable ends than tein gives… that’s the way to go imo

Cleaned this up.

Guys, stop shitting on the guy. He just wants to get help fixing his car. You’re not going to convince him of anything by posting it like an ass.hole.

EVERY one of you has at least tried this once, so shut up.

Help the guy out, be civil, or keep out of the thread.

guys, arguing over this is like arguing over if an abortion is right or wrong.

save learning on the street for the snow fall you will learn a lot.

would help if you stated if you had 4 lug or 5lug,

if you have 4 lug i know of an auto s14 in a junkyard around me.

starting on the street is the way to go, if you start on track you’ll never learn things like avoiding curbs and catching grip when you want to, you’ll just crash more, you do alot better on track if you started and became decent on streets, keep it up man, theres nothign scary there, go get all the parts and fix it up in your driveway

yeah don’t do sh!t like this hahaha:
