Custom radiator

I just picked up my custom radiator and it looks great. I had them make it out of a stock charger radiator. It is shortened by 1 1/2 inches, they removed the tranny cooler, put a threaded heater bypass that can be plugged, and used a truck core that cools as well as a 5 row core. The only downside is that it is heavy. It cost $445 out the door but at least I know it will do the job.

I had it done by Empire Radiator.

Well the paint looks like shit for $445.

Form follows function. I guess they are used to doing commercial work. I am sure if I told them that I wanted show quality paint on it they would have done it.

I’m having a 3" aluminum radadiator w/ dual row 1" tubes and completely custom endtanks being built from scratch for $300 from moxies…

I think you got hosed.

John Moxie is a funny fellow.

agreed. but i think he’ll get the job done, and he didn’t ask for any money up front, which is solid.

He still silly.

no doubt. he’s squirrelly.

OT, you be at the shop today?

Nope, i’m up at the big ski shop today.

I’m sure this will do the job for you. However, It does seem to be giving up a bit of efficiency. Where the tubes end at the tank, The “centers” or ribbons, between the tubes are not full length. They should go all the way out to within a quarter inch, or less, of the tube end. They may be only an inch short, but if you add that up for 50 or 60 tubes, on both ends, it is significant. You are loosing quite a bit of heat transfer. Just my 2 cents.

Brass cools better than aluminum and it also cost more. I really need the extra cooling because I don’t have much room for the radiator.
