cutting of shocks for springs

I heard that many older 240s have this problems when changing the springs. Sometimes the springs are so seized or corroded that they would have to cut the shocks. Which means I would have to get new shocks.
Did this ever happen to anyone?
Thanks

This hasn’t happened to me, but I think that if you were at that point and things were that bad, it’s time for new shocks anyways.

SOMEONE TRY THIS, WITHOUGTH SPRING COMPRESSOR, COOL!

I really can’t see that happening unless your car was sitting in a field for a few years.
