Doesnt matter… Prolong use of a hard drive, constant writeing/erasing of applications and files… being extremely fragmented and the ehad having to move back and forth can cause hard drive to wear prematurly also heat…

I used to kill hard drives a few years back when my room was hot as fuck and i was constantly on my computer…

Anyways… just saying the hard drive doesnt have to take a shock for the arm/head to go bad and perminently bend you over and fuck you in the ass

I run an external usb hdd for backups, and usually have a second internal one for backups as well, just not at the moment. I already had a system drive fail on me before, backups are a must. If you don’t feel like backing stuff up by hand (I do it daily) then setting them into a mirror raid array is an option. As far as saving the existing drive - I’d look around for firms that specialize in it, the quoted amount sounds way too high.

second quote from the place 99frc suggested $65 to examine $995 to recover. FML.

Its a lot of money but if whatevers on there means something to you well then you cant really put a price on it :lol

Fuck that why do you think they charge so much? Because they know people put priceless shit on their comps then dont backup and failure is inevitable…

My 1.5TB Seagate was clicking and would work fine for a bit until the OS stopped recognizing it. Get data off fast. I use Acronis for backups to another server with 5TB.

well its too late for that shawn lol

well wayne, u sound like this data is pretty serious, why dont u send me the hdd and i’ll get the data off for you 100% success rate

hah ! kidding, yeah right the only thing i would do is what was said above, :lol

sorry to hear tho

Yep. He is screwed.

shes back in the freezer. i’m not taking it back out for awhile. like days. fuck it. i def will miss all my shit, but i won’t miss it enough to justify $1100.

yo you still got my hdd? the one you failed to get the data off of haha?

its probably better that all the CP gets destroyed :rofl

haha but yea its a lot of money and unless its once in a lifetime family shit or something to me anyways would not be worth it

I have a laptop and a PC.

I have my pictures, documents, program installers, and music on both (pretty current on the laptop - PC is the main data).

Games, Movies are burned every couple of months to DVD. Right now I probably have 8 DVD’s and 10 game images on my PC.

If one dies, I go out and buy a drive, and re-install and then copy from the other machine.

Works for me. And I get more use from it than have just a portable HD.
