De-criminalize all drugs

To the people who think EVERY drug should be legal. Do you also think it should be un-controlled? For example, that we should just let people walk into a pharmacy/store, with no Rx and just buy whatever pills/drugs/substances they want, in whatever quantity they want to buy them in?

I actually think that there needs to be a MASSIVE crackdown on legal, controlled substances. Particularly doctors who seem to hand out Rx’s like candy. I mean, seriously, some doctors will ask their patients if they still need oxycodone prescriptions. Ugggh, doctor, aren’t you the one who should decide if the patient is capable and needing to take HIGHLY addictive controlled substances? That stuff is like fucking heroin in a pill. God damnit, shit pisses me off.

No I don’t think that it does. Those drugs are legal and prescribed. Not really the same thing.

Illegal drugs are to legal prescription drugs what Moonshine is to liquor purchased in a liquor store (minus the prescription :P).

They are an unrefined product that does more harm than good than if they were controlled, taxed and regulated. In my opinion, like tradersbase said, people like to do things they are not supposed to do. The snipit about Portugals drug policy shows that. Teenagers are more likely to buck the system and rebel, however there they showed a drop in teenage use. As for the overall rise in drug use, it was probably due to the amount of people that were free to admit they used drugs because they only way they would get those statistics would be clinics and surveys.

I don’t like drugs and I don’t like the effects they have on people. I don’t think that legalizing something like this would change the effects they have on people. However I do agree with Jam that this has been a failed “war”, the money spent on this like other wars could have been used to improve education, infrastructure, research etc. All of the people who have been arrested for things like this is just like the prohibition era. A nation of hypocrites and wasted money. You cannot legislate morality and to waste the amount of money spent on the policing, trials, imprisonment, rehabilitation, re-education of a convict and parole is a crime in itself when we could have spent a little money on education at a younger age which may have helped prevent some of this road.

I believe that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

Furthermore, I’m not a drug use advocate. Could you imagine though if cigarettes were just as illegal or if we re-enacted prohibition. No beer for anyone. Lock up every person at ralph wilson on sundays

Discovery is all over that. LOL. Has anyone actually watched this show (Moonshiners)?
I guess my point was even the underground is going mainstream. MMA, Moonshiners, Jersey Shore. What used to be dirty little pleasures are now wildly popular and public. I can’t wait for the next “American xxxxxxxx” reality show. Probably gonna be on fisting at this rate. LOL

No. Though I do think that that extreme would work better than the extreme we’re at now. Somewhere in the middle would be best. At least legal enough that the supply side is legit so you don’t have afghan terrorists growing it and hood rats cooking it. People still abuse codeine and valium but it’s not fueling crime at an international war level like heroin and cocaine.

I just don’t believe that making it legal to blow coke or shoot heroine is going to encourage that many people to do it who aren’t already going to do it.

Jay I’m sorry that you had a family member ruined by heroin, but it was illegal and they got sick anyway. Shows how well this silly war on drugs works doesn’t it?

Still though I can see how legalizing things like heroine and coke may not work. When you can get hooked in one shot the margin for making a human mistake goes away. I still don’t think there would be many who would do it if it were legal but not if it weren’t, but still the argument is there.

But what about stuff like pot, or fucking anabolic steroids, or LSD, or buying fucking sudafed without having a pharmacist record my actions for big brother?

The war on drugs is totally in-line with the American way.

PROTECT US FROM OURSELVES

+1 this pretty much sums it up.

Agreed

So how would you propose we distribute drugs? Do I need to go to the doctor for my blow fix?

I think you should have to sign a waiver that you have private healthcare and will never collect social security before you can buy any recreational drug.

LOL, yeah, that’ll work

Even if heroin/meth/cocaine etc was legal, do you think more people would be keen to try it and/or become addicted?

Personally, I wouldn’t. Cigarettes are legal and I still have no desire to try them.

It might also be a nice lesson is social Darwinism, let all the idiots do drugs legally but have health care and insurance companies create clauses in their contracts that deny coverage if said people do said drugs.

Kinda like life insurance companies denying coverage or lowering benefits if you’re a smoker.

Also, you are using the mentality that if the US Government were to suddenly come into a load of additional revenue that they will decide to cut taxes. Based on the government the last few years, that extra money will leave taxes as is and just up spending such as defense and the military and other random things that we put money to that are useless.

HAHA, yeah, they’ll deny coverage, but the hospitals will be stuck getting them through detox in the ER still. Then they will overcharge other patients to make up for the loss in revenue. Then the other patients and their insurance companies will end up footing the bill for druggies to detox.

The health insurance piece would be a HUGE requirement. I’m sick of paying the same co-pay and premiums as an obese person, a drunk etc… There should be a financial penalty or surcharge if you create a situation where you cost more to the system.

Boxxa…I agree. The taxes will trickle UP not down. Giving the government more revenue won’t solve the issue, it’ll make it worse. It’s not a revenue issue, it’s more about outgoing than incoming money at this point.

those farmers should be busy making me more E85 anyway. The whole supply/demand results in a sting economy for jobs thing is a bit thin. I don’t see the US getting anywhere by taxing addicts or by putting farmers to work by growing pot crops.

Really E85/gas is the perfect example. A hugely significant portion of the population is “addicted” to gas (more so than pot). They tax the fuck out of it, both by gallon and by dollar. Yet is that money saving out economy? No. Are the producers and refiners saving the economy? No. Are they putting a significant amount of Americans to work? No. Are they funneling funds to terrorist organizations in 3rd world countries run by dictators? Yes.

I’d rather avoid all that and have a few less addicts in this country. I have enough friends that ruined their lives because they couldn’t handle pot.

People that do drugs are weak minded imbiciles. I have no sympathy for those who choose to ruin their lives, let’s at least make a profit off their failures.

This can/should be broken into two separate statements. There are plenty of people who choose to do drugs but do so in a controlled manner and can be productive and successful people. It’s the people who show no sense of self control that become the issue.

Sidenote: my comments will never be in support of drugs like heroin/cocaine/meth. Drugs like marijuana, however, are simply victims of the second coming of prohibition.

First of all, you’re an asshole

Second of all, the government might get some revenue, but we as tax payers, and people who pay for health insurance will ultimately pay the price.

We’ve already went over the bit about hospitilization, so I won’t be that horse dead. However, we haven’t talked about other consequences, like the fact that drugs make people do RETARDED shit and that drug addicts will likely spiral out of control, end up being supported by government programs (yayyy the tax money they made us is now all spent up) and a we again, will have to pay for them to be put in jail for other shit like DUI/DWI, robbing people for drug money, robbing pharmacies, etc…

So you want to make the shittiest fucking drug of them all legal and make the good ones illegal still??? So I have to deal with fucking stupid pot heads? FUCK THAT!!! The best thing about pot is that it’s illegal. I was at Dunkin Donuts this week and a kid walked in and REEKED. I said “Holy shit, I’m catching a contact high from you.” He frooze like a deer in headlights, turned red, and walked out all worried without ordering his munchies. Seriously though, I’m not going to try heroin because it’s suddenly legal and anyone who thinks that people are suddenly going to do drugs just cause they’re legal is a fucking idiot. Would that faggot piece of shit I ran into not smoke weed if it was illegal but suddenly become one of the most hated dredges of society, a pot head, because weed was legal? No, the faggot is going to smoke it regardless. Also, what the fuck would those fucking looser pot heads talk about if weed was legal? All those fucking wastes of flesh do is think of why pot should be legal and try and tell you why it’s the greatest thing since free internet porn. If I worked at a border crossing and caught someone with a gram of blow, or an 1/8th of weed, I’d let the coke head go and send the fucking pot head to the anal rape room with no windows-thats how much I hate pot heads.

Lol, I’m a huge asshole. I’ve known this for years <3

And yeah, Paulo is right with what he said.

Quattro, was that a Bill Burr reference?

LOL at you. Ever have a sip of alcohol?
