dealer wont cover

do dealers have to repair tsbs out of warranty. to my knowledge tsbs are =to recalls just not announced yet. well theres a tsb for door trim in my car the paint chips off. The dealer said they wouldnt cover it because i was out of warranty. is this true or do i need to start complaining.

I thought TSB’s are to be treated the same way as recalls, only difference is recalls are safety issues. IMO, you need to start complaining to manufacturer level people. Dealers are assholes.

a tsb is a bulletin issued to an auto dealer by the manufacturer detailing a fix for a known concern. The bulletin is for informational purposes only. It is not a recall. The dealer is under no obligation to make the repair or notify customers. TSB’s are intended to assist dealers in ongoing repairs.

thanks u. now time to peel the rest of the paint off

thanks for clearing that up RedZ

Joe, so how is your Cobalt out of warranty already? did you drive it THAT much, or did you just have a really short warranty?

He is correct TSB’s are not a recall… just a bulletin

39500

TSBs are generally issued for things that arnt safety related because they dont have to repair them…they just have irrate customers…Recalls are generally safety related and have to be repaired

+1 more. TSB’s just document likely problems. In your case the dealer sees there is a TSB for door paint chips so they don’t waste their time trying to figure out why it chipped since they know it happens a lot.

Didn’t you just get that car this year? Where the heck have you been driving?

i got it 20 months ago and drove from niagara falls to hamburg for work for 6 months. now i drive 11 miles to work everyday i love it lol

if you have a good relationship with your dealer they will most likely fix it… however, its not the dealers choice, its the district managers. at least thats how Honda does it…

a good trick is… say you will get you 40k maintenance done if they honor the tsb… it works for s2k owners all the time.

It’s worth a shot giving GM customer service a call since your dealer already turned you down. Be polite and professional, but explain that it’s barely over the warranty on miles and well within the warranty on time.

If that gets you no where, as a last resort you can try something along the lines of, “It’s unfortunate that you can’t find a way to resolve this. My family convinced me to purchase this car after talking about the great service they have always received on their GM vehicles. I’m going to be sure to inform them of your strict interpretation of your warranties and suggest they look elsewhere for a future vehicle.” Do not however word it along the lines of “This will be the last god damn shitty gm me or my family will ever buy”.

sounds chilidish but ill just have my dad called. sure its not mature but my dad has purchased 18 cars from west herr ford in his time including three this year if they wanna be dicks about he will go elsewhere
