Detail guys...What do you use to clean carbon build up off exhaust tips?

I spent the night washing and waxing my car last night and the only thing that I couldn’t get clean were the exhaust tips on my car. There is so much carbon build up, I tried to hit it wil steel wool, but it was too much. Is there a cleaner or solution that will help removing this?

I have some problem. Use Mothers metal polish. You could probably use a Power Ball to speed things up.

Well the problem is, the exhaust on my acura is inserted so nothing will really fit in there.

I was able to polish the lip, but I would like to try and clean out the carbon that has built up in there.

BEST stuff on the market hands down, works great, smells good to!

Sorry, I don’t get that deep into mine. My carbon is way worse so I stop before actually going inside the tip.

Never Dull and elbow grease are great. Those tips will be black again in 1 day, don’t know why you’d bother? I always just clean the edges and exterior.

Wheel cleaner works good on my car to break up the carbon, but maybe scrub it with something like seafoam.

grease lightening and then a brush (like a wheel spoke brush), and then a less intense cleaner should get it close to as clean as it can. But yeah, it’ll be all screwed up again in a week lol

High temp black spray paint.

Liquid wax and the finest steel wool will make them shine like new. Used to do that when I was a detailer back in the day.

Easy off oven spray is by far the absolute best thing i have ever come accross for removing grease/carbon.

I used it to de-grease quite a few engine blocks, and used it on muffler tips multiple times, its also 3$ a can which beats out all of these high priced cleaners from auto parts stores

I like this idea so then you’ll never have to worry about having the semi-carbon build up look to it.

This works pretty good too, that shit is potent!

I high temp black spray painted my exhaust. Smells like shit everytime i get on it/when it’s hot

i believe the inside of those tips are painted flat black from the factory

Metal polish with 0000 steel wool. I have used it on hundreds of exhaust setup and works wonders

Rather than make a new thread. I have an offer on an exhaust and the guy said the tips are a touch discolored from tracking the car and them getting very hot. Will polish bring them back?
I don’t mind how they look, but figured I would ask here if I could improve them.

I don’t believe you can fix heat discoloration

That was my understanding. But sometimes these detail guys have miracle products.
Just agreed on a price, should have it in 3 weeks. I keep adding stuff to the car and delaying my update thread.
