Not too well, considering they probably rev 'till 4K rpm :wow
Average Inline4 bike now days, rev’s well past 14K rpm.
But I was wondering when they will start coming out with Diesel motorcycles, I think it’s a fantastic idea for a daily. 100+ Mpg and some TQ to go with it :thumb
The M1030M1 JP8/Diesel Military Motorcycle has been under development since 1998. It is designed to operate reliably and efficiently on Kerosene based fuels to include Diesel Fuel and Aviation Kerosene. HDT is under contract with the U.S. Marine Corps to delivery over 440 M1030M1s. Production will begin in March of 2006.
Most Americans don’t want to buy something that looks like a crotch rocket and has no power backing it up, hence why most people are biased against 250’s, even the new ones. Only the logical reasonable people pick them up, which is the opposite of 99% of the Crotch Rocket rider population.
Plus it’s never really a goal to have good MPG in anything sporty, just look at any high end sports car.
Cruisers however are always looking for the most comfortable ride, with the longest period and the most capable, which is where diesel would fit much nicer.
Upon looking at specs it actually rev’s a little more then expected
Power:30 PS @ 5700 RPM
Torque:33 ft-lbs @ 4200 RPM
all they did was take the Kawasaki KLR 650 and take the motor out swap with a diesel the comapny doesnt build there own bikes really so u could prolly buy a motor
I just search the internet and crap and find interesting things to spike interest. if i had the money buy one instantly for MPG and its so different no one would believe you it was diesel
+1 seriously i think right now there is a higher demand in the market for “crotchrockets” and other bikes similar in design, would be a real smart idea if they did something with making them a diesel to increase the MPG… still would rock one of those as a daily
