I am ordering internals for a KA24DE. Its a mysterious motor that i bought thats in really good shape. But i dont know what year it was out of. I was looking at Part sites to buy pistons and rods, and theres KA24DE from 1991-1994 years and KA24DE from 1995-1998 years. What is the difference? Piston ratios? Will this make a difference when buying parts? Please let me know. Correct me if i’m wrong.
Thanks
If know one thinks theres a difference then that helps too haha
I don’t think there’s a difference.
Yeah I heard there is a difference. One is OBD I compliant and the other is OBD II compliant. that means different emissions. I hear that also means different ECU different MAF different plugs. It is not plug and play. However the block is the same. so yeah swap over your S13 parts and I am not sure but heard the spark plug timing is done differently then the S13. hence the new ECU.
I think the compression is higher on the 95-98, I can’t remember thought. I thinks it 91-94 8.9:1 and the 95-98 is 9.5:1. But It won’t make a difference in the parts.
