I have adelphia expanded basic right now and they just upped the cost again. Digital cable and direct tv are the next options. The channel lineup are the same with the dish and cable but the dish is about $10/month less. Does anyone have these and if so do you like them?
cable… it’s easy.
i had the dish a few years ago, we have regular cable now. it is about the same as digital cable. i liked it, i had 3 complaints about it. the biggest being we got it when it first came out so we couldn’t get local channels so we had to use rabbit ears… we would have needed a new reciever and they don’t offer any of the sale to existing customers only new ones… we needed a tv in atleast 3 rooms and we would have had to buy three recievers at full price and last when we had really shitty weather we would lose signal on most of the good channels.
the new deals they offer would be much better than what i had.
We like our Dish.
have digital cable now, i like it.
had the dish at the island, i hated it. everytime it got windy or would rain the picture would go out on it. that drove me nuts! i want something thats always on regardless of the weather.
The only time we have problems is when it’s VERY heavy rain AND thunder and lightning out. Other than that it’s fine.
i can’t get away from paying 45 bux for 16 movie channels, locals, 120 channels all digital i’ve had it a year now it’s gone out twice. once during the first flood, once during the 2nd flood. digital cable for that stuff was like 70 some bux
please don’t tell me you are trying to say that cable is as unreliable or more so than a dish…
then again, you live in the woods so who knows what happens out there.
i’ll agree cable is expensive… i pay like 98 bucks for digital cable, two recievers, hbo skinamax and showtime, as well as high speed interweb… so it’s about 48 bucks for cable with 3 channels… so i don’tk now why it was 70 for you.
digital ondemand is sweet…but generally there are only a handful of good movies at a time. i never have time to watch them, so it works out… buying a movie and watching it and paying it directly on your cable bill is easy though… plus ripping movies off the reciever is cake (as it would be with a dish)
had adelphia out here for 15 years went digital for a year and hated it they kept telling us it was our cable lines in the house that were making it fuzzy, charged us twice to come and fix it and nothign cleared up either time. switched to dish using the same lines through the house (unplugged cable, pluged in dish) and haven’t had any problems. so yeah i’m saying it’s more reliable than cable. plus the satallites for adelphia are up over the hill so it’s not a matter of being “too far from civilization”
comcast > and more reliable than adelphia
on demand, fast internet, free rhapsody radio
i’d never switch back to cable from dish reguardless of the carrier
that would be nice if you had a choice, but you don’t.
My wife ordered the dish today at circuit city. we got 3 free recievers and $50 mail in rebate plus free installation. THe guy said they will mount the dish, run new cable through the house to the 3 tv’s and anything else that needs done.
i hate tv anyway and would like to drop it altogether and just stream the stuff I watch off the interweb, but the wife and kids will now be able to watch the shows they want. the dish with 3 recievers and the mid grade level, 150+channels but no hbo, cinemax, showtime, etc… is ~$50/month. My work pays for my cable internet, so I will keep the adelphia internet even though it will go up $12/month.
you need to clarify on this. this has only happend 3 times since we got our dish installed going on 2 years ago…
digital cable is soooooooooooooo much better! but my mom got rid of it cuz it was costing an arm and a leg, they were jackin up prices and takeing channels away, we now have direct tv as of saturday, i hate it, allllllll the channels are different! and theres no on demand… picture is great but its just a huge change and takes alot to get used to… 1 thing about direct tv is theres some good porn :bigthumb: i watched busty cops and genie in a g string last night :hitit:
this is why cable will never be better than a dish. They are getting out of control and they have monopolies on areas.
With dish you can select what ever provider you want to suit your needs. Their service is also much much better.
I wish nothing but death on comcast those fucking pigs…
I love having more channels that I could possibly watch, now with hd it superb! Almost broke a leg watching the Super Bowl it was so real. And internet no comparison.
TV sucks. if I am going to waste time staring at a screen I might as well interact with the machine instead of just staring at it. My parents have extended basic cable, and thats like 250 channels more than I’d ever watch. It would be decent if the cable company let you choose which 25 or 50 or whatever channels you wanted rather than just shove 250 in your face for a lump sum. If my parents didn’t pay it, I’d choose to have zero channels.
