anyone on here wanna sell it to me? i dont know if you guys are comission or anything. im looking to get a 2 room with dvr and Hd on 1 tv.
I don’t think anyone on here is DirectTV rep or subcontractor. Just a FYI HD/DVR boxes from D* run you 99 upfront unless you get the everything package with NFL Sunday Ticket.
Any reason for prefering DirecTV?
dish FTW
yeah more HD
130 HD channels by August 14th (the most of any company) + 1080p movies by years end…
Ok I said that when i was originally going to get DirecTV but then I looked at each’s Hd lineup and seen what each carried versus what i actually watch.
Dish network is pretty comparable and DVR is far better feature set and stability wise.
Look at dbstalk.com and the VIP722/622 forum and the HR20/HR21 forums
Are all of those channels broadcasting in HD and do you watch all of them. Seriously people need to compare the lists versus going off marketing posts and crap on engadget or whatever site.
I like DirecTV because they carry YES in HD. OTher than that, I don’t watch too much local, just movie channels like Stars, HBO, etc…
i prefer Direct, if there is a Dish rep on here that can change my mind well then they will get me as a customer
lol if you call crappy Voom comparable then yes, go for it.
Never a problem with my HR series, dual tuner, runs great, On demand (which i believe dish does not have)
Carbonfiberhooded does the Dish installs. Send him a PM to get his opinion.
Yep same here i had dish for ages but when dtv was the only one to carry YES i switched, and now im glad i did
Probably one of the best baseball broadcasts in HD around the country. I could not be happier with how YES comes in. Absolutely amazing.
so true, so clear
as compared to the fox brodcast this weekend, omg so shitty, sync issues.
My only gripe is that Jim Kaat retired. I learned so much about baseball beyond the basic rules of the game, he ruled.
yeah and his wife just passed last week also, so sad…he was really one of the better announcers on YES.
lol David cone is funny, he tries to sound smart using big words.
those 2 tards on fox suck
DirecTV’s content is not OnDemand either, they really irriate me calling it ondemand… true ondemand content is streaming content over the wire… That was the intention for it all along. It is PPV downloadable movies nothing more.
Dish has OnDemand in the pipe but I just rather use Netflix.
My little list that irriates me on the HR series is…
lack of 30 skip not enabled by default (found you can do some hack to enable it but i am not sure if it only applys to Cutting Edge software releases which you have to enroll in at dbstalk.)
IR sluggishness and responiveness
There guide while granted being much nicer than Dish network can also be sluggish and squirmish
lack of dual live buffering
the HR20 has 4 tuners (2 ota/2 sat) and the hr21 with AM21 has the same but yet I can only record 2 shows at once… seriously wtf is up with that… I know the hardware in there can do more!
One thing I will say if DirecTV has content you are looking for that Dish doesn’t by all means I understand the choice. I just happen to be a DVR nut who hates certain features not being there. Comes from using a Tivo for a bit which is the benchmark for dvr’s in my book.
But I believe in choosing the product that works best for you, was only offering a few alternate options and wondering why you wanted them versus Dish
then u stick with dish and i will stick with dtv and we will both be happy little campers lol
call kr communications in kenmore if you want directv, they did my install and i got a pretty good deal package wise. free install too.
