 Awesome.
lol this one is too easy^
I had a heavy duty 2" pencil vibrator at my disposal. It rocked my world.
can’t wait to see the results.
this is how they sit right now…as i wait for their 4-5 day cure period:
did you use any color and/or flake in them?
Did you put LAFENGAS in them anywhere?
I used a “platinum” color and added white portland cement so it would be lighter. It will continue to get lighter as the moisture reduces over the next few weeks. I also added some white stone to the surface so it will expose lighter colored stones when i grind/polish.
this is the color i was shooting for and the mix design i used was identical:

unfortunately i forgot.
What’s the point of a trivet on concrete? Does it get a heat sensitive sealer or finish or something?
2 reasons.
1.) i wanted to inlay something
2.) concrete can crack with high heat, not likely…but can. Plus the sealer “can” discolor.
2a.) I really wanted to inlay something.
lol ricer
yeah, it was just a touch i wanted to add that would make it a bit more custom.
Wow, awesome - keep it coming!!
today is day four. I started pulling the mold formwork. I was actually very suprised not to find any airbubbles along the sides. I hope all the top surfaces turn out the same. The color will get lighter now that all the surfaces will have a chance to let moisture evaporate. To this point, they’ve been covered with plastic to keep the moisture level high during cure.
flipped this one over. You can see the silicon pretty easily at the edges. Found that airbubbles stuck the the silicon pretty consistantly on all the edges. These edges will be ground down to a small radius later:
A nice sheen for zero polishing to this point.
the radius edge that i formed with acrylic is mirror-like right out of the mold:
proof that concrete can be shiney:
Next is to grind the back-side surface nice a flat before flipping them over and polishing the top surface. So far, so good.
wow, looks awesome!!
be sure to post what tools and grits you end up using for the finish work on it
That. looks. AMAZING!
I really like the looks of that. I can’t wait to see what it looks like finished.
This makes me want a project house.
as always with your DIYs
Dayum… What are your plans for the sink bowl? Stainless steel bonded underneath?
