I’d tend to trust a group of doctors/researchers that make it a career to work with this stuff rather than a single doctor who recommends vitamin D. Where he says, 70% of doctors don’t get a flu-shot, well maybe they should poll infectious disease specialists and see how many of them get it.
The flu shot works by injecting you with an inactive version of the flu. That “getting sick” after the shot is your body creating the antibodies it needs to defend against the virus. That little sniffles/cough you have is not the flu. Most people toss the word “flu” around far to casually for any type of common cold. Flu is actually far more serious and is linked to over 30k deaths per year in the US alone.
If you’re a health young person like the majority on NYSpeed you probably don’t need the flu shot though. Your chances of getting it are slim unless you work in a medical field and your chances of being seriously hurt by it are even less. If you get it will knock you on your ass more than any cold you ever caught though.
I’ve only had the flu once in my life. It sucks. People most certainly toss the term around like it’s nothing. As far as the flu shot working, I really have no idea.

I’ve been getting them for the longest time because I had terrible asthma as a kid,the only time I got the flu was when there was a shortage a few years back and I didn’t get one.
It was definitely the flu,I had a 104 fever,mild hallucination/vivid dreams and the feeling of being on deaths door.
I strongly believe one killed my 85yr old grandmother last fall, she had the flu shot and within less than 1 hour she was having stroke like symptoms (never any TIA history before the shot), she ended up in the hospital and steadily went down hill and a month later she was gone
I will personally never get one, we do have immune systems for a reason
You have an immune system to HELP fight viruses not pretend they don’t exist.

Believe me I am exposed to all sorts of shit , I dont get any shots nor do I take any sort of meds and I get sick maybe once a year if that
The flu shot isnt proven, it usually dosent cover the strain that hits for the season and is generally unnecessary
I rarely ever take antibiotics , only in instances such as an ear infection, strep throat, loving an unclean woman ect ect
I do believe in preventative shots for certain things (ie I have gotten hepatitis vaccinations for work)
the only people who really benefit from flu shots are the very young, the very old or people who are ill or have immuodeficiancies
Theres no reason for healthly 20 something people to get the flu shot
Look up universal precautions and you will find they keep you from getting sick more than any shot ever will (you dont go to those degrees in the general public obviously but things like basic handwashing go a long way)

The flu shot is a minuscule version of the influenza virus, that essentially works with your bodies immune system to build up a defense against the flu.
It is proven that it will work, or they WOULD NOT use it. I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother, however I highly doubt it had anything to do with a flu shot. It could have been a variety of things anywhere from an infection at the site of injection all the way to pure coincidence.
