Dodge Viper ACR.... THE RING

Oh cool, professional bench rachers are much better than engineers posing as bench racers!

500+ hp on the ring… you better be Very very familiar with the car, the course, and drivining in general.

 completely agree

15lbs per corner of unsprung
90lbs weight redux (in addition to)
18% reduction in rotating mass (engine accelerates harder with less wear)
Downforce

=!

40lbs

Umm

Curb weight:
3460 lb (1569 kg) (Base)
3408 lb (1546 kg) (ACR)

For those playing along at home, 52lbs = 1.5% of the total vehicle weight.

16 gallons of gasoline (Viper fuel capacity) is 104 lbs, 3% of the total vehicle weight.

Your fat asses are probably close to 10%.

This thread delivers!

I still say put a pro driver in the 'Vette and see what it would do. There is a simple reason why they use an engineer to drive it.

GM Engineer= already on the payroll.

I’m sure he’s an outstanding driver, but he’s not an elite driver, he got picked apart by the guys who are familiar with the track and watched his video.

Go watch the 'Vette video again, and count the cornering mistakes and corrections in the driving, and take note at how slow he shifts. I AM NOT SAYING I could do better, oh hell no! You wouldn’t ever catch me going 170+ unless I was in a NASCAR car on a wide track. I am simply saying as impressive as the time was, there was a shitload of time to be made up with a better lap. When I watched the video for the first time, I was like “WTF? This guy is all over the place on every corner!”, I figured for sure they would do a follow up to get a smoother lap in.

No knock on the Vipers time at all, because it is certainly impressive, but there’s no doubt in my mind the 'vette has the potential to beat that time.

that is absolutely something GM would do

lol I like his reaction to some of his mistakes…

I think one of the points that is getting over looked is the downforce. If the Vette can beat the ACR without downforce… LOL @ the ACR.

But… to be fair… The SRT-10 should be more on the ZR1’s level which posted an 8:13 on the ring…

IDK what is more impressive the Vette at 7:2x of that the ACR made a 51 second improvement.

but…

ACR = manufacturer claimed, Hardcore Package option, suspension alterations, video confirmed
ZR1 = manufacturer claimed, base specification car with stock tires, video confirmed

the automotive engineers i know compete in race series’s on a regular basis. they get alot more track time than you bench racing fools. one in particular has been competing for 18 years with many championships under his belt.

pro driver vs engineer can mean nothing.

this is the dumbest thread ive ever read. you all ought to be ashamed at your stupidity.

Brian

This amy have been covered already but, how many ACRs have been built?
Is it really a production car?
It sounds more like a tuner car.

As far as the Vette driver, they put an amatuer driver in it for a reason.

It is a production car.

Brilliant! You can read.

Apparently you missed the point that the discussion was about the “hardcore” package giving it an additional advantage with its radio delete. :uhh:

Good thing you figured that out.

No shit the ACR is not the same as the SRT :fail:*23984729834798237287423

I don’t see how adjusting a stock adjustable suspension for the type of driving / course you plan to be doing is “suspension alterations”. On top of that, both were running “stock tires”.

regarding the “hardcore package” see my responses to MPicantreaD

god mike, you are so wrong, RITFORDPROBE says so…

:mamoru:

Not trying to be condescending, I’m just making sure we are on the same page here.

al·ter·a·tion (ôlt-rshn)
n.

  1. The act or procedure of altering.
  2. The condition resulting from altering; modification.

“2. Modification”

Thats what I see it as… I’m curious where it says The stock suspension just adjusted. If it does great, I just haven’t seen it.

Also tires. Sport Cups Vs PS2. Sure they are both stock on their respective car, but there is a difference there.

Again, you prove that you have NO idea what you are talking about.

Did you look up what the hardcore package is yet? obviously not. all of those items you have listed [which I wont bother to check for accuracy and further waste my time] are STANDARD items of the ACR package, NOT the “hardcore” package- which is OPTIONAL on the ACR.

FYI: WIKIPEDIA IS INCORRECT.

According to our press release:

  1. The ACR is NOT a manufacturer Claim, it was witnessed.
  2. The Suspension WAS NOT altered.

Side Note:
3. The Corvette suspension WAS altered.

PS- The 2008+ Non-ACR HAS NOT EVER RUN on The Ring, so there are no comparisons to be made there.

All of which are included items on ANY ACR, [and some of which are included on ALL 2008+ cars]

Link? Your word vs Wiki article… as it stands. Sure Wiki is wrong from time to time. But 10 writers agreeing on something with sources > Final GTS without sources

edit: O i see there is a 4th gen… the 3rd gen ran
