I’ll openly admit I dont have them, I was at the Chrysler Press Release, so thats about as close to the source as you are going to get.
Wikipedia’s credibility should be right at the top of the list to be questioned already based on the fact alone that it is listed as a “manufacturers claim”… which EVERYONE in this thread knows is false, up to and including a guy on here who supposedly got that phone call @ motortrend.
If I recall, they plan to build around ~100 a year, and are building them right now for 2008. Yes, it is 100% a production car, and can be ordered torough any Dodge Viper dealer, and driven right off the lot and to the track on Day One.
And there is no doubt in my mind that the Viper can best the Vipers time with a few more laps and/or a different driver. And the Vette better hope to christ that the ACR doesnt get different gearing available as an option in the next year or two… it is such a handicap it is laughable, the car cant accelerate efficiently (or at all) due to downforce in 5th or 6th because of the dramatic separation in ratios- it drops it well below peak TQ from the VVT… not that it matters, as I cant see either manufacturer sending the car back for a small pissing match.
Seriously, one race shouldnt decide the fate of these cars, there are so many factors to account for, not to mention the intended purpose of these two cars seems to be on two different levels…
If you are going to do these kinds of races all factors need to be equal, no matter what.
If the ZR-1 still loses, so what, I still would pick it over the Viper anyday!:spunk:
^^ next year or 2? Are they still going to be making Vipers by then? I heard they were killing it off in the near future. Can’t remember where I heard it from, anyone else hear it?

Whats wrong with this drivers credentials?
And 1000lbs of downforce Is never a handicap, regardless if it
in 5th or 6th because of the dramatic separation in ratios- it drops it well below peak TQ from the VVT.
seriously, get the gun. its like being in 3rd grade again only the toys are more expensive and larger and the insults are almost as clever. back then “you are dumb” was top notch cause no one knew any better.

So lets see… The Corvette is lighter, and has more power when compared to it’s Dodge viper equivalent. Then you take into account the dodge removes 40lbs,changes the drive train around, adds pro-comp tires and 1000lbs of down force at 150mph.
What would be the outcome if the Corvette has racing tires, and 1000lbs of downforce at 150mph?
Obviously the Zr-1 would take the crown back. With the cars equivalently equipped the Corvette is a faster car… It has more power and is lighter.
But, keeping things stock, the viper is faster just because it has those important track features. There is no more argument to have, its in the facts.
LOL, and that post makes you look ignorant as fuck too. Considering I spend half of my life conversing with people who track those two tires regularly, on the CAR IN QUESTION, and the general concensus is that there is no comparison… hmm.
And your comment about PS2’s being garbage makes you look equally as retarded.
And all of that isnt taking into account the intake temp the Vette required to make those numbers. Lets just say… it isnt any fucking where near track temps, and certainly a world away from heat soaked temps. The Viper doesnt have the heat soak problems the Vette does, so it balances out in a hurry around a track, especially a long one. On the same note, the SRT guys like “round numbers” as they put it… the Viper isnt really 600 horsepower, probably closer to 625. 08’s are averaging 540-560 at the wheels.
so i dont know if it has been said yet or not, i only read half the posts.
Whats the price difference?
why does it matter which is faster, who on here is getting one?
where you going to go that fast for that long and not get introuble/chances of crashing if on track, which remind you is not covered by insurance. (have fun paying it off and let me know when it happens for the laugh)
