Does anybody know how to fix an ipod?

Well maybe 3 weeks ago it did something really fucked up, I somehow got to some white screen menu I couldn’t get out of, and I ended up reseting it like 4 times to get it to work again.

I then plugged it into my Volkswagen car adapter to listen to on the ride home from work, and the next day and from then on my ipod has had no battery life over 10 minutes without being connected to power.

I have no idea what the fuck happened and it didn’t bother me, but now that it’s getting nicer out I’d really like to use it without having to be connected to the wall/computer/car.

If anyone can fix this I’ll toss them whatever cash their way to save me 300 dollars for a new POS.

sounds like the battery is dead. is this an early generation ipod?

you might be able to get one online and replace the battery

What size, type, model is it?

black 30 gig video. 5th gen?

maybe you got into some type of service menu and turned on a function that consumes a lot of power. I doubt the battery failed immediately like that. Something else is going on. Suggest some Google research.

I’ll try to do some research on it. I’m kind of confused/pissed. I’m coming up on having this ipod for 2 years come october. Would suck if it finally decided to shit the bed now.

I didn’t find much, but any time I connect it to my laptop or my desktop pc it says ‘please wait, very low battery’

this makes me think of that scene from tokyo drift, i dunno why hahahaha.
some cell phone batterys die out of the blue like that too.

I got into diagnostics mode but I can’t understand shit of what I’m really looking at lol

Figured it out somewhat. I went to do all the battery tests and they all fucking pass. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!

I hate these fuckers. Even though I’ll go buy one the second I deem this one FUBAR.

If your iPod is 2 years old, then it might be that the battery is just done. Lithium Ion batteries will usually last about 2 or 3 years before needing replacement.

sorry to go off topic…
Does anyone have an ipod recovery program they can send me?

I doubt it’s the battery. My Nano is 3 years old and I use it 8-10 hours a day 5-6 days a week and the battery has only a handful of times. Have you tried taking it to the Apple store? I’m sure they know exactly what you did and will fix in 2 seconds.

i have a 3ed gen mini and i have gone threw 3 batt so far… i use my ipod every day for 8-10 hours stright

Take it to an apple store. I think they can hook them up to a computer and diagnose the problem. Not 100% sure, just what I’ve heard. Give them a call, who knows they should be able to atleast tell you the problem, maybe even replace if defective. (I’m not sure how old your ipod is)

my 3rd gen does this a lot now. leave it off for a couple days and then try to plug it into the computer (without you hitting any buttons). usually works for me

if you dont mind losing all of your songs and vids, try a restore through Itunes.

That is, if you can get the ipod to dock.
