Does anyone know about the 04 sti at northtown?

you give your dates a hundred dollars when you go on a date with them?

zing

This coming from the guy that thinks his deposit is refundable…

not really a zing when I made the joke…

:picard:

I don’t date.

You can have my 06 for 24, and I’ll give some goodies. Looking to move in the next few days.

Thats a little out of my price range, ty though.

I drove it again yesterday and had them put it on the lift. It has a few scratches, not bad imo, it must have been garaged and seen little winter use if any. Some pitting on the front bumper worries me it was tracked but mabey not.

Looks great underneath, very little rust . I’m thinking I’ll have it undercoated even though it’s not perfect underneath.

I also found they did a 30k service, but it doesn’t seem all inclusive, they did just about everything EXCEPT change the diff fluids and brake fluids. Thats better anyways because I’ll do those with motul gear 300 and rbf600 next summer when it has about 30k on it.

pitting on front bumper is because their paint sucks… not because it was tracked

also 30K maint is pretty much just diff fluids and oil change… so if they didn’t do diff fluids they basically just did an oil change. Not quite a 30K maintenance.

Also if northtown does the diff fluid make sure they actually put the right shit in since when they did mine they put in the wrong fluid and my rear diff was binding up like a thai hooker.

Good to know, thx.

I’d rather just do the diff fluids myself. It may have been done though because the work order has some un-itemized costs. Here’s a copy of what they did:

If you can hold out for an '05, there were a lot of nice improvements. If not this looks ok if you offer $18900. Go there with a bank check.

what are these improvements?

offhand I can think of… comes with different bolt pattern which is much more of a pain in the ass to find properly fitting wheels. Oh then there is a different colored steering wheel, and different hvac controls.

lol mike basil has filled your head with bs

IF they go to court for it, which the dealership most likely wont, it just costs them too much to go through the hassle

i know when i worked there we gave back a lot of deposits on cars even when the buyers order says non-refundable

They def. weren’t going that low, but I got a few K off and also the powetrain warr. included. I’m happy with the deal.

Pick up tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for the replies…

I’ve been driving my wifes minivan for over a month :frowning: so I’m very excited…It will be nice to put that 12mpg machine back on reserve duty…

better front diff, wider wheels, wider track, aluminum lateral links, yaw sensor, revised steering rack mounting

12mpg minivan??? Astrovan with a 454 in it??? Cool that you picked it up and it seems like it was clean.

thanks

it’s a 2004 mercury monterey, and yeah city is 12-12.5 mpg.

hmm no shit, looked and there is actually a bunch of different things. looks like they tried to fix power steering problems too, however both the 04/05 have PS issues so apparently the changes didn’t do much

i knew about the wheels but forgot

So should I check something with the power steering before I take delivery? I’ve briefly searched and come up with whining and loss of PS under hard driving…???

thx

now you know. and thats half the battle. the wheels are actually a better MORE common bolt pattern.

probly something internal and non visable

Absolutely. They aren’t going to fight over a $100 deposit. A $2,000 or $3,000 deposit they will. I’m not speaking for Basil. I did not say that any of these practices are ones I partake in. However, If you give a dealership $2,000 and go down the street and buy something else from another dealership…good luck getting your deposit back.

Small deposits are not worth assassins, or bad word of mouth.

arent deposits pretty much $500 accross the board?
