it says she was briefed on it…
i don’t expect them to be able to go read every report, as long as u trust whoever is briefing you… in this case she should have read it, but hindsight is 20/20

yea, wooops got a phone call while typing that
Meh. Executive summaries are meant to be read. 90 page reports are compilations of research that lead to executive summaries.
I could understand just reading the summary if it’s a report on why NJ should get X million for a new bridge, but this is the key document that they were supposed to be basing their vote about going to war or not.
It’s 90 pages… less than most owners manuals for a car. The war has cost 3000+ American troops, over a half million Iraqi’s and countless billions of dollars. So yeah, it pisses me off that they all elected to go with the cliff notes version.
Most of these people are lawyers too!
That is the real kicker here.
Are you a lawyer that is too lazy to do the most important thing in your profession (reading)?

Oh no doubt, but considering that most of them probably just voted according to what would be most likely beneficial for their own personal political career, reading the summary is better than nothing. :gotme:
I just love that the Democrats can all cry about being “mislead” about the information on Iraq, yet they didn’t even read the report before voting. 12 pages of rebuttal doesn’t exactly sound like this was the “we must go to war, full of lies by Bush” document they all have been claiming it was.
the vast majority of elected officials do not read what they are bandwagoning… its not news, nor is it partisan.
We should be able to elect the handlers & aides, not the talking heads.

Have you ever seen Kerry’s or Biden’s speeches from the floor before the vote? I was really shocked that Kerry never used the footage in 04, as it dismisses the whole flip-flopper* thing
*Thanks for that BTW, can’t wait to unleash the flip flops on Romney

Or Giuliani.
politicians? useless? nnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooo :roll2:
I understand that most of the time they don’t read reports, and I’m fine with that. I don’t care that they don’t read every 50 to 100 page document about every pork project because I realize they would never leave the library. But, everyone has to admit, this is not like MOST of their votes. Once, maybe twice in your career as a career politician you might be called upon to vote yea or neh on going to war.
If you aren’t upset they can’t find the time to read an entire 90 page report before casting such an important vote, it’s not surprising you live in NY and Erie county, where voter empathy has led us to the mess we’re in today.
