Dogs

Thats a sweet looking dog, let me know if you come cross the info from your breeder in Rotterdam

Here’s some, I know somebody just gave them a bunch of puppies too. Give them a call if you want.

Thats a great thing your family does, can you ask them why they have the “must have a fence rule”? I never understood that one at all, to me it just reinforces the idea that dogs dont have to be taken on walks. People that have fenced in yards should have to prove that they are willing to exercise and socialize a dog poperly rather than turning away potential new dog owners without fenced in yards with that rule.

Be careful with rescued dogs, you dont really know their past. With your young son you might be better off starting with a puppy and training it, so its used to your family. We have had a beagle since a pup and he’s the best ever. But beagles tend to be independent and do what they want sometimes.

My neighbor has a beagle puppy, thing is hilarious… They take the little guy out for walks and he runs full tilt until he hits the end of the leash, then turns around and runs back, or dead sprints in circles… Funny to watch…

We used to have a hound prior to our Boxer and her only problem was if you left the door open and she caught a scent, off she went.

get him a dog that attracts tons of hot girls.

I already have a hot girl at home

Alaskan Malamute!

Really loyal and awesome dogs!

Malamutes are awesome dogs but i dont know if id recommend one to a first time owner.

They don’t want the dog running away. The rules may be different for people who live in neighborhoods etc., not sure. And some of the rescue dogs are good but like I said they just got 9 (I think) newborn puppies from a lady who can’t handle them.

Its just pisses me off because my parents were going to adpot a beagle puppy a while back but were denied because they didnt have a fenced in yard. Beggers cant be choosers and I think some shelters have trouble grasping that concept. I feel bad for dogs that never go on walks because their owners are ignorant and consider letting a dog run in a small backyard the only form of exercise it will ever need while also not socializing the dog at all. Shelters are really missing out on a lot of great potential homes with that rule.

great dane, dont worry about the dog weighing more than the old lady. no need to walk the dog, she can ride it like a horse, a saddle and some reigns is all that youll need for it

:rofl

i saw of lab, retriever, etc. responses, but how about either a pitbull or a rottweiler? both are great with familiy, and definitely command respect from someone not familiar with the house/ family :ohnoes

I have a Scottie. Hes about 13 now. The absolute nicest and most laid back dog ever, and my daughter pulls his ears and tail and messes with him, and he loves it. I got him as a puppy, and he weighs a good 35 or so pounds now, so like a medium size dog.

I have a german shepherd, hes an asshole.

Get a dog that does not shed… end thread

I have a weimaraner puppy. He’s right now 9 months old and 68 lb. He is an awesome dog but I certainly don’t recommend him to first time dog owner’s or people who can’t be home with one. They are known to have terrible separation anxiety (which mine has and requires to be medicated). He is great with people and little kids as well.

A lot of people have already suggested it and I’ll add to it. Lab is the best dog to have as far as a family dog.

Please research a reputable breeder and don’t buy a rescue, pound or pet store puppy. More times then not, rescue’s, pound, or pet store puppies come with a lot of health issues.

I know you may be anxious to get your son a puppy, but in the end it is much more worth to go through a trust worthy breeder.

Go to a breeder. They breed for temperament which is everything.

Boxer’s are great dogs.

my vote is for a lab.

I have a 6 year old yellow lab and two kids (aged 4 and 2). Could not ask for a better dog and shes great with the kids. My 4 year old has even ridden her around the house like a horse…

how has noone even mentioned a pitbull or anything along those lines …they are by far one of the best dogs in the right hands , smart , very eager to please parents and so on . i have had 7 of them in my life and not 1 problem
