and then white smoke. And not much white smoke after I started it back up. I put in 2/3 bottle. They say “1/3 pint” as though I know what 1/3 of a pint really is, or I can tell what 1/3rd of the bottle is if it’s opaque.
The bottle leaves a lot up to imagination. It certainly doesn’t smell “solventy.” It doesn’t smell like toluene or a xylene. It kind of smells like water. Which is to say, doesn’t smell like much.
And then white “smoke” would probably be water.
And then why am I spending $6 on a bottle of this. Hm.
We’ll see if the gas mileage impoves. I should run a few tests on it to see what it really is. Brilliant!!! Splendid. We’ll see if I can unmask it!
i always just run 2 liters of water thru the engine using one of the vacuum hoses, if your engine has alot of carbon build up youll see a distinct change in the cloud after the carbon is gone
water vapor will evaporate and disappear after a few moments in the air … everything else will continue to hang in the air for a good long time
when i used to HAVE to do this to the feiro to clear it out, the carbon cloud on a calm day would be HUGE, and as soon as the carbon deposits were gone the ehaust would just look like what you get when you start a cold engine and its puffing a bit of water vapor … the mist quickly dissappears into thin air
Hm, after taking a huge WOOF of it I guess it does smell solventy. But what!
Maybe modern day engines run much cleaner and don’t get as much carbon build up? It’s certainly true that gasoline is much better today than it was 20-30 years ago.
yea, modern engines are much cleaner, fuel injection > carb and current design combustion chambers > pre smog control designs … so not as much crap builds up unless you have engine probs that cayuse the car to run wrong
thats whatthe prob was with the fiero, there was a wiring or sensor problem that i didnt care to locate, and it ran like ass, so at the end of the week i would dump about 8 liters of water thru the engine and all was well again
I didn’t notice any change after I did my intake a few days ago. I think the guys that see a big difference are guys that have a lot of carbon buildup, for whatever reason. There are a lot of claims on VWVortex about huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge white smoke clouds, and then a much better running engine, less knock, even clearing a couple of CEL’s. I didn’t get much of a white cloud.
I did however get a pretty good placebo effect from dumping a bottle into the gas tank to clean out the injectors. Things felt a bit smoother after that.
I just did on my Buick, Not huge plooms of smoke, but enough for the neighbors to go WTF!!!. It smelled horrible. I dont really notice too much of an increase in power or anything, seems to run at lower RPM at idle though, I dumped 2/3 thru the air filter hose.
i might run some of this crap with my gas this year when i take the focus back out, just because last season i had it pig rich with -2deg timing so i could drive the thing safely without having dyno time, and i had ALOT of carbon buildup. so maybe ill run some of this shit and see if it clears some stuff out and i can get more power out of this thing. hell maybe ill do a dyno before/after for you guys
I used it on the teg w/ the B-series back in the day…it produced a good ammount of smoke when I got on it the first couple times. Didn’t do shit when just gentle revving/idling though…
Hahaha so I was posting pics of the camaro somewhere else, looking through the camera… and I saw these gems from after I bought it.
When I dumped the final 1/3 in, it fucking filled the whole place with smoke…
I remember sitting at a stop sign after starting it up… I stop, then another car stops… and I’m like, you dun wanna be behind me… go ahead… Then I just see my cloud of smoke fly past me.
Here’s some pics… my mom took them way back! haha.
I didnt think she actually took any.
