Yeah, if i was to compete i’d get a VLSD beforehand, in fact i should get one soon. :?
Hey guys whats up.
I think you guys at Driftnation are doing a geat job. I never managed to get out to any events because either they were cancelled or I had to work. That will hopefully change next year.
As far as price goes, ya it’s a little pricey but I do understand why.
I was thinking if possible maybe you could put together drift battles next year with a points championship. I may be able to bring in some backing for prizes too for the top 3 finishers. As well, maybe like the first Signl Drift Expo you could see about renting out some nice parking lots. It would be cheaper then renting the track all the time, you can hold events more frequently and have them anywhere be it, north, south east or west around the GTA area.
My last thought is having more instructional days for people to get better grasp of this growing sport and for those of us who are not bad at drifting, it’s a way to polish are technique. These of course could be seperate from the series battles.
Just some thoughts thats all.
Well take care and keep up the good work.
Easy 8)
Cayuga, wouldn’t be bad at all. The road course is just there. Hardly ever used. It only 45min from toronto.
I’ve tried both open diff and vlsd… they barely qualify as drifting… you need a welded diff or a 1, 1.5, or 2 way…
From experience, open diffs and vlsds are garbage for drifting… and if you disagree, then we clearly have different standards as to what drifting really is…
vlsd is doable, open diff is not.
I would prefer an open diff over a vlsd. At least it is consistent.
The difference between open diff and LSD is that you can not exit as fast as you entered. You can link corners as long as each corner’s radius continues to decrease.
In a single corner where exit speed didnt matter, open diff would match any diff since all that matters is weight transfer… as soon as you need to exit fast and do funky ass shit you need an LSD.
I cant wait to have the opportunity to drive a car with a welded or clutch type diff… i think i’d improve so much!
You try doing right handed links when it opens up and craps on your head…
Yeah DN really needs to step up to do some full track drifting.
my experience with open diff was in my older ae86 which is pretty much underpowered so i had a hard time breaking it loose without having to ebrake and the second you don’t apply enough gas you snap back pretty hard. i guess open diff would be doable in something with more power. vlsd is in the 240… i havent had a full on chance with 1/1.5/2way lsd yet.
AnDrEw… I’m driving a 90 right now, guess what kind of diff it came with?
OPEN DIFF. I drove the car with it, and even driving grip is BS with that
heap of crap diff. You can’t put any power to the ground. I’d rather drive
FWD with LSD.
I tried drifting open diff and its pathetic crap ass beginner poser garbage.
You can’t do anything at higher speeds, can’t link properly… its useless.
Didn’t Adam weld his open diff in his winter beater?
Welded seems risky, VLSD seems unpredictable, Open seems lame. VLSD are better than Open, but understandably, everyone would much rather have a 1/1.5/2-way.
If you have the torque to break traction then you can survive wimp drifts with an open diff, but linking is barely possible. You can only one wheel peel so much.
Seems risky, until you drive one… Drive on a welded diff and then state you opinion…
I think location in the key, I swear when me and a bunch of guys were bringing our cars up for DX-2 it took us 2 and a half hours because the locals had no idea of where anything was, but the event was wicked…we even bumped in to some other lost (I’m assuming) 240ers, I only remember a gray 240.
