I was thinking about this the other day and I actually prefer driving in rain / bad weather on a road trip. Not so much around town but on longer journeys. It makes it more of an adventure I guess, or more exciting.
I was in Ohio maybe a month ago and literally racing a storm system down the highway with rain and lightning in my rear-view and clear skies ahead. Of course I had to follow the road and the storm could take “short cuts.” Eventually I had to drive into the storm, but it had dissipated quite a bit by then. Made things more exciting for a few hours.
Around town when I’m alone in my car and no one else can stay on the road … yes. On a road trip, absolutely not. When I have anyone of value in my vehicle with me, absolutely not.
Road trip or daily driving; I love being in a vehicle that can comfortably blaze a trail past the rest of traffic. I actually feel some sort of homoish pride when im blowing by traffic in a heavy snowfall (man that sounded gay).
No, but mostly because everyone else sucks at driving, and they slow me down from getting where I need to in a reasonable amount of time…but just me personally, I don’t mind it…
Not at all, because long trips usually involve a trailer and driving in shitty conditions with a loaded truck and a loaded trailer is awful. I don’t need to up my risk factor commuting.
Rain in the daytime, because at night I can’t see shit with the glare on the roads. Snow at night when the roads are empty, especially right after a bad storm when the roads are freshly cleared and the cops are too busy to care. I love driving in snow only when I don’t have to worry about stupid people hitting me.
The extra challenge can be fun around town, but not on a long trip. There’s no up side to extra fatigue and less progress when you’re just blasting down an interstate trying to get somewhere.
Plus I want to stab people who drive with their flashers on to let you know that it’s snowing. “Thanks for the heads up dick fuck. Your 4 ways are supposed to indicate that your vehicle is disabled, not that you are. We all know it sucks out, we’re on the same fucking road. Now turn your flashers off unless you just pulled buses on a civic.”
I drive with my flashers only for this reason. “I’m the last person coming up on slower moving traffic, and the person behind me looks to traveling at high rates on speed”
FUCK THAT SHIT!!! Road trips are for nice weather. If the roads were vacant with a foot of snow, FUCK YEAH!!! But when some fggt is in the left lane doing 30mph in their piece of shit fucking SUV and I can go 60+ and they won’t move, that’s when I wish I had a rocket launcher mounted on the hood of my car.
