Driving to NYC next weekend, need fastest route.

Fly into JFK (jetblue) and take the airtrain to Jamaica station. From there, take the LIRR to within pretty much 5 miles of anywhere on Long Island you want to go…

To the OP question, I second the 90>81>380>80 route…

I jus twent 390 to 17 to 87 last week to pickup the audi… it wasnt THAT bad… there is some construction on the 390, so you will have to detour… i made it there in ~ 6 hours…

So, flying really isn’t that much faster, considering all the travel, waiting, other shit you need to do…

Agreed…he was just saying he’d “love to” in response to the jetblue option…so I thought I’d flesh it out for him…

I was on a temporary assignment in Farmingdale (about 1/3 of the way out on the island) for work for 6 months, and flew/drove home to Roch about every other weekend. By the time you take a cab to the train, a train to the airport, security, board, fly, get picked up, etc…it worked out to be AT BEST an hour faster than the average drive was…It’d be about an hour better than that to Buffalo.

if that is the road i’m thinking of. I was going to yonkers about a year ago. I ran my express on the limiter the entire way 92-96mph. My old van didn’t have the power to maintain the limiter the whole time but that was a kick ass road from what I remember.

i take 17 all the time to get to work no toll until you get to the bridges and the traffic isnt bad until get get to like binghamto or elmira at rush hour even then its not too bad tho
