I’m sorry to hear it man!!! Were oil or water temps getting higher than usual? It has been real hot out lately…
That’s what it sounds like since it was a stock engine on a stock tune.

and u were trying to tell me 350z internals are strong enough to hold 400hp, yours didnt even hold 300(guessing)
They did hold 300ish+ hp for a while, there are a lot of track hours on that engine. Rebuilds are common for any engine driven that hard, regardless of power.
Stick to drifting. This has nothing to do with internal strength.
yea um there are alot of 350z’s out there over 300hp lol
it doesnt? maybe he should have ran a 1/2qt more oil if it was sloshing around that much? maybe he should have had an oil cooler??
so whats the plan for the z now? v8? rb? or u sticking with the vq?
That blows. Ik youll do somethign siqq nasty for it
lol how would an oil cooler have helped in this circumstance? engines break, especially ones that are raced frequently…
Umm it would have been preventative dumb ass, i was asking a question of would it maybe have pro longed the life of the engine. because when oil gets hot as hell it tends not to work as good.
engines just dont break for no reason there is always a cause, no matter how hard u pound them. its not like he was running a crazy ass amount of power.
k.
The car has an obscenely large oil cooler for it’s oil capacity and heat range, so your arguements are moot anyway.
werd… not the issue, try again
yah like i was suposta know that :lolno:
An excuse to tell the wife/GF why you need to spend $5k+!
So what are the plans?
on roclife he said he is thinking about parting it out :gotme:
Parting it was an option, it comes down to cost: part it and buy/build a Spec e36 or Spec Boxster (cheaper to run / lighter, more places to race it) - but I think I have a source for a new engine that will last longer AND have more power. As Greg (sterm) said this isn’t that uncommon for this many track hours (last 7k on the motor was all track). Everything was done right, no oil consumption, no temp issues (water or oil), had a more-than-adequate cooler on there, no warning, it just went… probably WAS starvation, I was really turning things up driving was and carrying 110+ through quite a lot of high-speed corners the past week and you can only do that for so long …
maybe time for a http://www.accusump.com/ if you keep it?
SpecE36 or Spec3 are ramping up, either might be a good place to find competitive racing for cheap. No real crossover between the series though, so pick the one with the most events. I don’t know anything about Spec Boxster, but Porsches seem more expensive to race. Keeping the Z and dropping in a new engine may be the best bet, since you have the most experience in that platform. What series/class would you run it in?
The crossover I meant was into NASA GTS (german touring challenge).
There’s better stuff than accusump from what I’ve read but we’ll see, at the very least I might see about upgrading the oil pan, maybe a spacer for more capacity etc…
