true, but the PDK system for porsche can handle anywhere from 255hp to 550hp. i know your talking about the VW’s in particular but once the aftermarket catches up i’m sure they will start coming out with stuff. It would be like changing a clutch pack in an automatic now, plus you have to look at each clutch pack like a mini multi-disc clutch setup which allows for very high power levels before upgrading.
yes, they already do this
plus the auto learns the driving habits of the driver and will adjust accordingly. if your 80 and barely on the gas then the shifts will be slow and long for smoothness. If you race from stop light to stop light the transmission will make short, fast shifts
I don’t think that the average Golf, Jetta, ect. Has the traction to make upgrading the DSG necessary. Maybe if you add a set of DR or slicks. Or in the case of the R32 Golf, AWD.
as far as other manufacturers with higher torque engines with heavier cars. They will obviously need larger clutches with more discs in the clutch packs.
This interests me considering I just did the Home Depot DIY shift kit in my Grand Slam. I like quick crisp shifts.
I <3 DSG
