I agree, it’s partially a political issue. They do sell alcohol at games though, so it’s probably complicated.
This whole issue boils down to 1 thing, personal responsibility for your actions. And America is moving away from that.
One sure way to stop it is to have more fierce penalties. If you kill someone driving drunk, you get the death penalty, that would force people to be more responsible. Ask anyone who carries a gun and drinks alcohol, you are forced to become responsible and make good choices BEFORE you start pissing out your judgment ability every 30 minutes.
america is already away from it. everything becomes a race, gender, sexuality, politcal issue… the real subject always gets lost.

I think I’ve gotten about 6 txt msgs about this today. So much for secrecy. Actually had a secretary yell at another girl telling me about the checkpoint. “I get mad when people talk about it…you shouldn’t be drinking and driving…”

19 dui arrests 2 found with drugs and 1 underage drinkin…out of 6248!!! thats a pathetic waste… they could do better a high school football game.

there is said to be another one on 279 tonight, and 51 and 376 at the churchill exit.

I think for as much as it was spread around, 19’s not a bad #.
Wow, I would like to see the estimated cost of these said checkpoints. Think of all the costs:
-Police OT
-Parmedics/nurses
-Breathalizers and other equipment
-fuel wasted (both by police, ambulances and private vehicles in the cluster jam that CPs create)
I’m sure there are more that I can’t think of off-hand. All of that to catch 19 people? You could have caught more than that just watching people swerve and calling ahead with a radio. We all know roving patrols are more effective, but who cares when you’re spending OPM, it’s all political BS to make somebody look good.
And what about all of the emissions from these traffic jams they create? I bet that’s good for the earth, hahaha
