dumb question

Yeah. i am ready to be flamed ok… lets say…a mustang or camaro can rip the front wheels off the ground with like 400hp right?
how come other rwd cars can’t do this…ie:supra,m3…ect.

weight distribution partially, part suspension set up, but mostly tq. Supras don’t make 400hp at 1500 rpms neither.

first problem is hp has nothing to do with pulling the wheels, its all about low end torque. And like was already said, weight distribution, suspension set up, and traction are all needed.

A 400hp Mustang or Camaro can certainly pull the wheels, but only with a suspension set up for drag racing and sticky tires on a prepped surface. Mine, with a high performance street typ suspension and about 2.5X the hp just barely lift the fronts off the ground on a hard launch with sticky tires on a prepped surface.

IOW, the most important variable is a suspension set up to maximize weight transfer.

I know someone in particular, has 300hp N/A and sometimes uses a 100 shot…he very easily pulled the wheels off the ground launching at 5500 rpm. Its all in the suspension and tires. he has massive slicks, and a hell of a rear suspension…and a roll bar helps also.
as said by everyone b4 me…all about weight transfer and hooking up.

First off, its about what RPM your staging the motor at. You stage the motor at the peak TQ. It has nothing to do with low-end, upper-end. Next you need a chasis thats set up for drag racing, and drag racing only. You need 50/50 shocks out back with a good set of slicks that will hook up. Up front, Most guys will use a 90/10 shock unless you drive it on the road you might use a 70/30 shock. Next its all about weight transfer and distribution. Allthough it does require some power to do this, its just simple more than power that lifts the front wheels off the ground.

Mustang / Camaro = Solid Rear Axle

Supra / M3 / Import sports cars = IRS (Independent Rear Suspension)

I know ive got photos of a red M3 from Sweden going wheels up on a Supercharged Euro S52 somewhere around here…
