So last weekend I go to play a dvd in my “new” (last christmas) laptop and all systems are a no go. How the hell can a company ship a computer with a dvd player yet not provide the program to use it? I searched google a little bit and tried one that looked legit. well it didnt work.

anyone have a site where I could get the correct file? (I know I can get one for $15 from dell or something like that, but I would rather not pay, of course)

DVD playing requires a license which is why you need to pay for software.

Just use Videolan which is free and plays most standard DVDs.

so I just download VLC and use that as my dvd playing program? or am I looking for a specific file to dl?

i just use anydvd
