DVD Playback Options for Windows

If you are running the Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, or Windows XP operating system on your computer, you might need to install a compatible DVD decoder (also known as a MPEG-2 decoder) before continuing with the following activities.

*Playing a DVD

*Playing a recorded TV show

*Playing video files that were encoded with the MPEG-2 codec (.mpeg, .mpg, and some .avi files)

To purchase a compatible DVD decoder, visit Plug-ins for Windows Media Player.
WTF ? i’ve never had this problem with My old laptop watching a DVD

You need DVD playback software. His laptop probably didn’t come with it.

thats pretty shitty since its a dvd drive with a dvd burner

what does that have to do with anything?

movies are not the only thing that uses dvd’s.

It might have come with software, but out of the box Windows Media Player doesn’t have DVD Decoders on it. You can download some or look on the computer for DVD software.

WinDVD
PowerDVD
However, I also think Windows Media Player 11 supports DVD playback so maybe you can download that.

stuff like that.

Chris. You need to get a Mac. You have the worst luck with all computers more than anyone evar.

Definitely need to install some DVD playback software. You can use an add-in for Windows media player or go to a stand alone player like WinDVD.

Just use a free trial of WinDVD until you give it back…

I have vista on my laptop and have no dvd software loaded and I can watch dvd movies.

x2. But do you have Home Basic or Home Premium. Mine are Premium and the one with basic I never tried to watch one yet.

it does have windows media player 11

I have ultimate on my home pc and business on my laptop, never had a problem with either of them.

riightt… that’s the solution

i wouldnt get a MAC…lol

I  my mac

i hate both of mine… powerpc and macbook pro

my forcing authenticated directory access project = getting paid to hate on macs and owning mac users

Don’t get a MAC it makes your yoohoo shrink…

:kekegay:

if there was a darkstar brand i would buy that… it would never fail
