dyingwish's DC2, thanks to redramair!

Well, a little over a year ago I picked up an unmolested 94 GSR from it’s original owner with only 100K on the clock for a rediculously low price. Car was mint, aside from some pretty lecherous cancer. The strange thing is that is was growing the fastest from behind the rear molding NOT the rear arch, where most Honda rust away. After bitching and moaning about it for a while, I built the car up for track days and put off the rust issue. Long and painfull story short, I finally undertook the project in December.

In Dec '06 I took my car to an unnamed shop in Imperial…see http://www.pittspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34691 for reference. I got a quote for all the work, and told them I want it started ASAP. I got the run around for over 3 months, then they took my car… and in 4 weeks they only got the panels welded in:

They did a great job putting in the new metal, but did not do anything else I requested, then told me they had something else to do and would not touch the car for another month, so I took the car back :finger:

Threw some primer on it, and this is what it looked like:

So now the good part. After posting the above thread looking for someone to finish the job, I was told that rule #1 of bodywork is never finish anyone elses job, and #2 is you cannot guarantee rust work AT ALL.

Derek aka redramair contacted me and decided to take on the project on the side. I took him the car, he went over it and gave me a quote that was far beyond resonable, and said he’d start it immediately. Super nice guy, PPG certified, does great work. I will definately be going back to him for more work, and maybe my brother’s Civic. I want help get his name out there, pittspeed has quite a few very capable people for car-related stuff, so add him to the list.

The to do list including the following for both sides:
-Cut out / reweld the rear 1/4 panel - rear bumper area
-shave antenna hole
-shave rear lock panel
-smooth out whole rear end of car-
-paint rear of car, including ITR spoiler, blnnd into doors, pillar, and bumper cover
-paint extra set of 96+ mirror shells

Well, not only did he do everything I requested, but he did an INCREDIBLE job, and turned it all around in 6 days!! I want to recommend Dereks work to whoever is looking for any body/paint work. I was shocked it turned out so good! He even filled in some small dent on the door that I never even mentioned :tounge:
