if you bank with one of the 5 major banks:
CIBC / BMO / TD / Scotia / Royal Bank
you simply go into your account online
select funds transfer option / send money option / interac funds transfer option
whatever your bank calls it
you enter the e-mail address of the recipient of the funds
you enter a question
you enter a password
you enter the amount of the funds.
you confirm and send.
the funds come directly from you bank account and show up on your statement as a withdrawal.
it is essentially an instant electronic cheque.
furthermore, you have record of it with your bank, permenantly.
it only costs $1.50 no matter how much you send
you cannot send more than $1000 in a 24 hour period
the recipient simply answers the e-mail
selects the deposit funds option
selects their bank
answers the question that has been set by the sender
(you should tell the recipient the answer in advance of course)
the funds are transfered directly into the recipients desired bank account
no personal or banking information needs to be exchanged
that is a huge +++ because as much as i like you guys, none of you are getting my banking info… sorry
paypal is more expensive and they are horrible ot deal with if you have a problem.
if you do not like paypal this is your best option.
i like paypal because i can back it with my credit card and defer payment for a month. but the 3% fee on all transactions and the difficutly turning it into cash is ridiculous.
this is the future of on-line payment in this country. get used to it and get on it.
the whole idea of driving to meet up with people has its perks, u get to meet the seller if you didnt already know them, but really; the time, gas, effort in setting up meet times is rarely worth it.
