BTW you can’t tax pot itself IIRC. Something in the tax code on natural products/food.
You can tax a license to sell it. This is what should happen. Benefits I can see would not only be revenue in the form of taxes, but a decrease in expenditures because we would no longer be throwing billions away in law enforcement and we could ease the pressure on our prison systems. It’s ridiculous that some nonviolent kid is in jail for 5-10 years for getting caught with a little weed on him.
I believe that’s accurate and it’s 30 days (or weekends for 6 months or something?). But just because you get caught with it doesn’t necessarily mean the cop will charge you for posession… if you have a little bit and tell the cop and surrender it a lot of the time they’ll let it slide and just remember your face.
I got busted once when i was younger…lets just say the cop left with something in his pocket and i still had my utensils. He did issue me a hefty speeding ticket and a “possession of a fictional license” ticket.
Def got off easy, but i told him exactly what i had and where it was and all he did was make jokes and tell me how smart he thought i was for just plain telling him.
I believe cops dont really give a shit about it. When you lie to them about, then it seems like you have something to hide and that pisses them off.
is there more to this sentence, or are you currently preparing for marijuana to be legalized by smoking marijuana, and simply forgot what you were typing?
