I hate to even mention this but Studderin went 11.1 NA
Hmmm… I’ve got a 351 just sitting in my garage, maybe I’ll build it up into a high compression NA 408 and drop into a fox just to prove all the LSwhatever leghumpers wrong.
He ran 11.1 with stock heads and a stock bottom end…not some fucking stroker motor…
How is that proving shit???
So why don’t you go build up some NA 302 :bloated: and see how it stacks up…
This didn’t need to turn into some fucking LS1 debate but you are comparing two completely different things…which would make sense because 99% of mustang owners are fucking idiots…
302 VS 346 Cubes is apple to oranges!
never ceases to amaze me how no matter what the thread topic that its a lsX cluster fuck
I catch your humor, but speed doesn’t always cost a lot of money if the combo is put together properly :eekdance:
Forgot about his…yeah, that’s moving pretty good. And if I remember correctly he had fairly minimal mods??? Who else is fast without power adders???
You don’t need a 408 to go fast…check a few posts back on the 10 second NA 306 I posted up:)
Nothing, might be a wakeup call to all the guys who think it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
And I just said 408 because someone mentioned something about a 427 LS1. A 351 makes plenty too. I’d be using the 351 because it’s closer to the LS stock displacement, and i’ve already got it in my garage.
I went 12.0 with a stock motor in a LS1 car…
Please find me a NA mustang that did the same thing and I will stop posting in this thread
No reason a mustang can’t be extremely fast…The simple facts are LSx motors are a better design and put out better NA results.
waiting
so to make this a fair agruement u want to see a stock 351 in a mustang go 12.0?
No
I want to see the stock motor it came with…
Come on where are all the sweet 4v cobras???
Crying about displacement…you sure you don’t own a honda???
FORD HAS MAD TECHNOLOGY WITH 4V AND DOHC
LS1 still has faggety push rods and a single cam!!!
I want more info on this 12.0 car…
Obviously the LS1 is an awesome engine, and one that relies on modern technology to make the power it does. I was bringing up the 10 second 306 simply to show that the old 302 based engines can run hard given a modern dose of tech (CNC heads, OTS cams, etc.), and are still 40 some cubes shy of the LS1.
In no way will I ever try to say that stock for stock an NA Mustang will even compare to an LS engine…I’m not stupid.
well the 1995 Cobra R came STOCK with a 351, so that would be what you would want to compare to.
all other stangs have 302 or smaller v8s (besides the super charged gt500s with the 5.4s but those are not NA so we are not talking about those)
Unless you want to compare equal or almost equal cubes, then your just talking apples to oranges. its like saying “my Na 370/408 ls1 is faster than ur 346 ls1” any of you ls1 humpers will jump all over this saying its obviously not fair bec the cubes r different. so please use the same common sense when comparing a ford motor to a chevy.
Good points…and more than enough reason why stock Mustangs are pretty weak. While Ford tried going high tech with the OHC engines GM was perfecting the pushrod engine, and did an amazing job.
I really don’t understand why the stock comments get brought up so much, it’s no secret Ford hasn’t come out with fast Mustangs in stock form…

Ok well take the best year of the 351 or just stroke out a 302 to around the size of a LS1 through on STOCK HEADS And a STOCK CAM(best stock cam they mad for the motor if you most) and then compare.
Sorry Ford didn’t sack up and give you guys more CID
I guess your not part of the 99% of stupid mustang owners then!!
1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.2 346 cu. in.
1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R 5.2 13.8 351 cu. in.
and i used this site: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60_Quarter_Mile_Times/F_0-60times.html
This is apples to apples. Both with 1995 technology. Both with iron heads(at least ford does.) Both cam-in-block style motor. Ford stopped devolping the cam-in-block motors for the SOHC/DOHC motors, a mistake i think but whatever. If Ford had continued the cam-in-bloack motors would the next generation be on par with the LSX? I hope so seening as they were already faster when using equal motors.
I stand by what I said previously…the LS1 has a great starting point with modern tech. Take a 302 Mustang, add that tech to it, and the results will be damn near identical. Take my friends 10 sec 306 (built for the track) and his car fits right in there with all the other track oriented cars you posted…
If I get some time here I’ll go dig up what the Purestock Mustang guys were doing 10 years ago with their shit.
