I couldn’t care any less. Most people mod their cars anyway…and rag on Ford all you want but they’re in the business of selling cars, and last I checked they didn’t have to take an 8 year hiatus or whatever selling Mustangs.
Lastly, this isn’t about cubes…for I’ve been barking all along that the 302 can hang pretty well to the LS1. I could dig up numbers from 347 cars that are right there with the 9 sec. cars you’ve posted up if it was about the engine size.
I sure hope not…I hate being labeled with those who don’t know their limits.
For the record, I actually really like the LS engines and am glad to see GM stick with them and keep improving their design:)
If we’re comparing Ford to GM, wouldn’t it be fair to compare the 302 Ford motor to the sweet 305 GM motor. Show me one 305 that out-performs a 302. Oh that’s right you can’t cause you chevy guys know better than to try and build a motor with a junk base.
What did you find? I could tell you pretty much anything about the car as I’ve seen the build from the days when it was slow AOD a few years ago.
Cool side note, he will be at Pinks All Out in Michigan this coming July. The 400 spots were filled up in 3 minutes and somehow he got a spot! I’m hoping to head out there for that weekend, should be a good time.
In the other thread you said your car only dynoed 420-450rwhp(so basically your turbo mustang dynos as much as some NA LS1s around here)…and your still on a stock block…
It’s been fine so far, ford makes pretty good stuff. Waiting on a Dart block before I really crank up the boost.
Oh wait, were you attempting to make fun of me?
How soon till you get a car that runs the 1/4 in less than 16 seconds?
Edit: Yes, my low compression 302 on 7 psi only dynos 420 horsepower, I didn’t want to split the block. Compared to your high compression, extra cubes, and pretty damn good factory heads. I’m sure those LS1s you mentioned had some work done. How bout this, I’ll build up that 351 NA and see if I can get 500 wheel out of it, since you LS1 guys always seem to think that you can’t get any power out of a ford unless you use a blower.
Mustang owners always bring up the lack of cubes, which is a pretty weak argument considering what the 4cyl boys are doing with around 2.0L of displacement. If it bothers you, maybe you should have picked a different platform?
Then they bring up that the F body isnt in production anymore and Ford is in the business of selling cars, which is true, but is completely irrelevant to a performance discussion? :gotme:
Then the Cobra R is compared to the 5.7 in the chevy… Ok so now we are comparing a limited run factory built race car, which if memory serves me right, you needed a license to buy one? (at least in the case of the 2000 Cobra R)
After owning a Mustang for 4 years and being disappointed time after time by the performance, i went a different route and i couldn’t be anymore happy with the choice i made. I recently helped put a Vortech blower on my friends 2003 Mustang GT it put down a whopping 380rwhp on 10 lbs of boost and took down my friend’s beastly full exhaust Z28 by a car length … no thanks. I cant really speak for Fox bodies as i have no experience with them really, except the fact that i love their looks. However, i doubt if i would play around with the 302 Motor after my friend (38stang) with no offence to him managed a 12.5 @110ish with Heads, cam, full exhaust and a shot of juice. If i was going to stick with the Mustang platform, there is only one real choice, the 2003-2004 Cobra. If i wasnt a poor collage kid i would already own one. Forged internals, blown, with a t56 from the factory… go Bills.
Again, with more cubes and higher compression, as well as better heads from the factory, what do you expect from a 2v GT? Those 4 cylinder boys you mention are usually running 15-20 psi and a full aftermarket motor too. I’ll take my wimpy little turbo 302.
Im going to laugh when fuckin Big Ed destroys everyone this year :lol:
As i said there is no high science or prestige to making anything fast really, it has all been done before. Its impressive what technology has come up with to get such performance out of small motors… hell what did your 5.0 do stock 210 crank? a 2.0L S2000 does 240, Not to mention the V6 imports that are now surpassing 300hp. I didnt have a lot of money, and i wanted to go fast, so i bought an LS1…You can make anything fast, provided you have deep pockets…but i can guarantee one thing, my car prob has a lot less money into it for more HP than your “wimpy little turbo 302”
Probably does have less money into it. I’m not saying the LS1 isn’t a great motor, I’m just saying that it’s not the godsend that some people make it out to be, and the concept that ford engines suck and don’t make power is retarded. And that the reason it’s a better engine than the 302 is because it’s got displacement, compression, and better heads. Not to mention it’s at least 10 years newer. Those imports you mentioned are also current tech.
And who’s Big Ed?
Lol. From 11.2s to hopefully mid tens, assuming I go through with the 347. The T-5 is going to be rebuilt with an astro performance or G force kit. Not going to bother responding to your posts anymore, you seem like a tool… Did you move back from Jersey?
Why are you comparing modern technology to the 5.0 that was developed in the mid 80’s??? I guess that was the whole point I was trying to make earlier…given modern parts (heads, cam, etc.) the 5.0 can be EASILY built to run side by side with the modded LS1’s.
