The heads bolt right on…and you need to loosen some bolts to change the cam :picard:
I’m BigEd
I was the last guy to buy the LZ car.
My best time 11.765@118.11 on a 125 Shot, didn’t run the spray for long.
Best NA time:
60’: 1.667
1/8: 7.772 @ 87.29
1/4: 12.258 @ 109.48
First time ever 1.764 - 12.487 @ 108.61mph.
408 next year for me.
In my black and blue car the NA 306 went 12.67 @ 102 with stock ported heads, exhaust, gears, and a stock aod. This was 4 years ago. when I weighed that car I believe it was around 3300lbs with me in it. 2 years ago with a 5 speed, 331 9:0:1 compression afr185’s, and the usual bolt on’s I ran 12.11 @ 114. I cut a 1.61 60’ with the complete stock suspension minus the quad shocks.
We have different opinions of bolt ons it looks like…the cars I was referring to were stock block 302’s with heads, cam, intake, gears, and exhaust. Perhaps I should have said NA 5.0’s. While no where near the 118-120mph, I do know that stock headed fox’s have hit the 110mph range…but this was years ago before the aftermarket got the nice cnc heads and the technology to grind some aggressive, yet streetable cams. I tried looking for timeslips but I don’t even know how many fox’s out there still run stock heads.
The cars I referred to belonged to 2 friends of mine. They were both AFR cars that Ed Curtis ground cams for some years ago (I think I spoke of this earlier in this thread). 11.7 @ 118 was where they were running…at 180,000 on the stock block. The one guy sold that car and picked up the coupe that I linked a video of here running 10’s on an NA 306.
well if a bolt on car is a H/C car weighing 400lbs less than me cutting a .4 faster 60 foot makes sense then…
i guess my car is “light bolts ons” then? … and big ed’s car would be stock
i’m sorry my h/c/i spray was only 12.5s this year, i know there are many issues with its lack of performance and believe me the nitrous system, tranny, and rear end are being changed.
 mustang people
Lol at this thread. My original comment was to imply that a ford motor and an LS1, given similar displacement, compression, and decent heads, would make similar power. 347, 351, 408, whatever. They all make good numbers, just like the LSX motors with the same mods.
People that bench race because they don’t own anything fast
LZ was running those times years ago :gotme: Hes just stating facts.
:io:
OMGZ I havent had a fast car in 10 months…I have been street racing/drag racing for 5+ years…
Do you even have any track times for your pos?
Find me a 346 CID Mustang that makes 450whp…NA…street car…
All LS1’s make around 345hp at the flywheel since 1997. Its been 12 years ford needs to catch up soon.
I dynoed 343rwhp and 36X tq…
Stock heads
Stock cam
Headers
Lid
Dumped exhaust

Wow the amount of banning that should be going on here for going off topic will take away the whole f-bod community on nyspeed. lol
And when I do, you’ll just say it doesn’t count because it’s not stock displacement. It’s ok, GM still hasn’t come up with an answer for the '03 Cobra. And I’ll see you at the track.
Now on topic, AFR’s.
and maybe ford was afraid of building that cobra in the life span of the LS1 Fbody because all GM would need to do is put the LS6 Heads and Cam in it and make 405hp like the Z06 and underrate it again…
a '03 vette the, low boost ZO6 option
lol were talking about 03 cobras and there isnt anyone with one posting in this thread… oh well… who cares… im willing to run anyone in this thread, win or loose, put up or shut up
