I’m probably gonna drive down to Calgary this Sat to look at something. What is the approx driving time from YEG to calgary at a reasonable 110-120 speed?
2.74 hours at that speed.
given that there isnt any of the following:
A) accidents
B) shitty weather (iced roads and speed dont end well)
C) General Idiots
140-160km, 2:15m to 2:30m.
its about 350km from edmonton… u can do the math for the speed… depemding on road cond id say 3hrs.
I made it from my place in Millwoods to Brasso Nissan in 1 hours and 58 minutes. Figure that out. :E
I even got passed by a guy in a diesel truck. LOL
id say what thats like 375 km about, so thats like 190 avg(prb faster because u have to get out of edm first then go through calgary… so highway speed=over 200km/hr. not bad haha and a truck passed u.haha sweet… me and my gf once came from calgary to edm in about 2 hrs or so… on cruse control at 170… haha. was fun.
I’m gonna try to keep it under 140 if I can, my cheapo detecor actually works, but I don’t want to risk a ticket.
im thinking of a radar dect… what brand is urs? and does it work in the city? or does it go off for every red light camera too

It is a Cobra. I don’t use it in the city, but it does have a city mode which doesn’t allow it to go off due to traffic lights. It is pretty accurate so far, I know when it is the cops cause the KA band goes off. It has already got my out of a ticket, cop was behind me in a black unmarked car and the detector went off and I immediately downshifted. Sure there are better detectors out there, but for $70 it has already been paid off.

my cuzin used to drive it every week. Averaged 4 hrs from far south Lethbridge to the west end.
My record is 1H 40 minutes from racecity to my house in SW edmonton
This was 2 years ago after SCC calgary. I left around 3 am because i had to work the next day. I followed a lexus most of the way too, Lets just say i was lucky i had the speed limiter removed
Mine is the ESD 7000 model.
I’ve done it in 2.5 hours a few times. . .i wouldn’t recommend speeding even if you have a radar detector. Soooo many cops out on the highways in the past few weeks, and lots of cars in ditches.
I got a $402 ticket (first Albertan ticket :finga: ) a few weeks ago and that’s after they let me off for a lot of other stuff.
I’ll be heading down to calgary a few times within the next week too. . .
I did millwoods to blackfalls in a 1H 45Mins onces… I am pretty sure it would have been about 1:30 to calgary… I don’t think I am ever going to try and better that because going that fast for that long is just asking for problems.
Umm Blackfalds is NORTH of Red Deer. 1:45 to there is really really slow.
maybe its not blackfalls. Black fields maybe … its black something, its southwest of calgary… I spent the majority of the time around the 200km/h mark. There is a paintball field… Shortly after getting there I ripped the lip right off my car on a cattle gate… it sucked balls actually, I guess thats what I get for driving on a gravel road with less then 2 inchs clearance. :oops:
I did calgary to edmonton in 1 hour 45 minutes, after I went and picked up a turbo from Rob, I had to meet people in edmonton in 2 hours and I had time to spare. I also did wainwright to calgary in 3 hours, normally a 5 hour drive.
YEG to downtown Cowtown at 120 km/hr to the start of the Deerfoot, 110 to Memorial, and 80 to the flyover will run you 2:15.
Bad weather and idiots slow you down. The more of an idiot YOU are, the less they slow you down. 8)
