I’m pretty sure the C6Z did somewhere around 10.8 on DRs, so some low 10 runs should be rolling in soon from the ZR1.
How many times can you launch the vette before it needs a new gearbox?
Is the gearbox 20,000$? / thread
Both are pretty cool cars. But ever since the '04 Z06 I’ve been starting to like corvettes.
I’m not a huge fan of domestics or V8s, but the new vettes are SO impressive. The ZR-1 pulled a 1.06gs? Holy shit! And we’ve all heard of stock c6 Z06s running 10s with nothing but drags. Imagine drags on the ZR-1.
The new GT-R follows nissan’s code of getting heavier and heavier. It’s over 4000lbs with any driver. Brake fade, understeer, body roll, and terrible fuel efficiency all matter in a car meant for the track. And weight affects these pretty seriously.
Plus GT-Rs are over a 100k anyway. Go down to Mike Barney and ask how much it’ll cost to take home theirs. So no money-debates allowed. >:E
How many problems will the Spec-V version of the GT-R have?
How bad will you feel when you pay 115k for a ZR-1, and joe schmoe has a nearly identical car for like 38k?
cool write up
:bigclap:
id rather have the viper ACR competition coupe over these… :stir: lol
Brian
HAHA Im with you too.
 <3 the zed r 1.
Knocked another 4 secs off their best time.7:22.4 but ACR viper is still 7:22.1
did they change tires on that run? or still original equipment. btw, derrick whats the status on yours?
Either car is sick. I wonder which one will respond better to a “tuners wrench”. You know some rich fu#&s will throw $$ at them to make em faster. Turn up the boost, timing, etc, etc. See which shows more improvement, holds together longer. On the street though, AWD is awsome. Try hooking up 600+ hp with rwd & a std tranny on a cool night. Once the Vette hooks up though, the party is over for the GT.
Don’t forget, Chevy has been building Vettes since the 50’s. The GT-R is in it’s 1st year. If they sell enough to continue production, they will get better.
I bet 90% of the guys on this board could turn a better time on a road course in the GT. The best time(s) in the Vette took a lot more runs to get the best #'s. Slap some DR’s on that beast & the Vette will run mid 10’s! Wow… Amazing! I really don’t know why I’m even talking about these cars cuz other than winning the Mega Lotto, the only way I’ll drive either is if I carjack one!! But if I do win, I just might buy 1 of each!!
both cars are retarded fast for a factory car, and both will outperform 99% of the cars on the road
but the fact is the corvette still has the worst interior out of any car with similar price/power
Damn, that slipped my mind. I’d take one of those in a heartbeat.
your long post was a good attempt at your trying to justify your original comment. but still a fail. if you are really re-reading your entire post and the line you quoted and STILL dont understand this then i am sorry for picking on you. saying the results were bias really makes no sense “the results favored the vette” REALLY??
and the humpers, im puzzled if this means me. i am in no way backing up the gtr, i think it is an awesome car but this has nothing to do with what my preference is, i havent once said the gtr should have won.
+1 for the zr1 vs the viper
The GT-R is built to resist tuning. Even if you change rims, a light comes on in your dash. The ECU is also supposed to be hard to crack.
More stuff: Nissan GT-R can't take aftermarket wheels, unapproved race tracks are out - Autoblog
edit:
We’ve previously reported on how the GPS system fitted to the GT-R would remove the 111 mph (180 kph) speed limiter when the car arrives at a track, but according to Niikura, it will only work on pre-approved racetracks. However, the GPS sensor doesn’t automatically remove the limiter by itself, it has to be manually changed by navigating through a series of menus on the GT-R’s touch screen. While having to go to a Nissan-approved track is daft in its own right, it’s even worse when you leave. After the track day, owners are required to head on over to a Nissan High Performance Center where a $1000 safety check is performed. Don’t do it and the factory warranty is void.
Although the Amuse GT-R is supposedly at 600rwhp, and Modified Magazine had a dyno claim that it gained 40rwhp just by taking the hood off.
Corvette mod-ability vs the ACR would be interesting though. The ACR is such a sex machine
:fail:

Never heard of the Skyline huh?
not 100% sure, but pretty sure that the person that wrote that article is a tard…
i don’t know anything about the whole track thing, but at the end of the article it does say that it is NOT that way in the US. The fact that you “can’t change wheels” is why I think he is a tard. It’s called TPMS, and it’s on all cars made in '08 or later.
bottom line, interior comparison is for faggots.
i love all three of the cars being discussed. but id take home the viper.

Grouping the new GTR into the same group as the R32-R34 series is wishy washy. Some people do it, some people hate it.
That’s assuming he has heard of them
