Eliminating carbon canister in sr20det

just wondering the steps needed to take to remove the carbon canister in an sr20det. i figure all i have to do is rip it out and cap off the hard line leading to the fuel tank. but i just wonder if someone has done this before and if its legal in edmonton/alberta. i figure that i just cap off the vaccum outlet on the throttle body and just connect the usual to there places.

Cap off the vacuum lines but just leave the hard line vented.

Yup, it looks alot cleaner if you remove the lines and cap them at the intake manifold.

if i leave it vented, is it not gonna start a fire?

show pics if u can.

i havent burnt my car down yet…and my breather is still open. Just do what RS13 and Nis240 said.

illegal or no?

Can’t say for sure but in a province that doesn’t even require catalytic converters I highly doubt it.

Besides, has anyone ever heard of a cop looking under your hood (except California) to check for polution control devices?

Cops wouldnt even know what that thing is. I have had my carbon cannister removed and the line to the gas tank vented for 2 years now. You dont need it, it is gay and useless. Destroy it (i hit mine with a sledge hammer).

BAHAHA. We live in alberta. Today i saw a truck that burned as much oil as gas and had its tailpipe dragging on he ground help onto the truck with bailing wire.

The cop getting fumed did not pull him over.

what advantages/disadvantages does this have?

its mostly an emissions thing… it recurculates fumes back to the gas tank, instead of venting them… it might save you .001% fuel mileage…
