Engine always running cold in cold weather?

Ever since my B18C was rebuild it has been running cold when the weather is below about 60 degrees. If I let it idle for 10 mins the needle will move up to about normal operating temperature, but once I take it for a ride the needle drops all the way back down.

I figured since it had the bigger cams put in it, a bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors and a 12:1 c/r, it would start running a little warmer since I still have a stock dual core Del Sol VTEC radiator.

In summer weather the needle reads where it should be at or if I’m at the track it might heat up a little bit, but cold weather has a big effect on what the guage is reading. What could be causing this? It makes me nervous because I’m affraid I might be hurting something if the guage is right. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my b17 back in the day. It was the thermostat.

do you have any heat when its running cold? if the heat is a lil weak then probably the temp gauge is working… and its a thermostat… if the heat is fine. the guage is probably off…

i guess thermostat but ya never know… change the stat and call us in the morning

I had the same problem on my D16z6 and i changed the thermostat and now is running good.Just check on that.If that doesnt help try to cover a section of the radiator and see how it drives till u find the problem.

thermostat .

The heater throws off heat when turned on, but not as much as I’d expect. i don’t drive the car much so I can’t remember what it used to be like before the build. Hopefully it’s just the thermostat. Thanks, I was going to try that first and see what happends.

it happend to like 4 of my hondas dont worry bout it
