Okay so i just rebuilt my engine i made a high compression ka
now the problem is it idles at 1500 with no mafs
but idles lik shit with a mafs on
i’ve tried three differnt mafs and one different ecu
what could be the problem?

SOHC or DOHC?
Have you looked into or considered the idle control valve’s (AAC I believe) setting? Check the TPS as well, it’s supposed to be at a certain voltages according to throttle position, and can make for unamusing idle conditions…
Is the idle bouncing up and down or just random? Stalling out when letting off gas?
dohc
it idles like a muscle car
what cam setup do you have?
Could be a timing or timing chain issue? :dunno: That can cause the car to run like poo. Check the timing maybe, should be 20 degrees BTDC.
Any strange exhaust smoke or anything like that? Might want to consider double-checking the compression if yes.
Could be a whole bunch of other things though…such as the cams as mentioned above.
Good luck.
stock cams
the engine ran lik crap when i took it out
rebuilt it
still runs lik crap
thing is it idles perfectly jus at 1500 rpms with no mafs’
fully rebuilt engine*
his car seems to run fine without tha mafs but it idles at 1500 rpms and revs fine up to 3500 rpms then stalls, but if you leave it running its ok.
with tha mafs it seems to run like shit. black smoke comes out, seems to be idling unstably, it shakes like a mofo. but can rev over 3500 rpm like it should, just still unstable.
hope this info would help out with finding out our problem with tha car.
why is there no mafs ? put the mafs on and start from there
Did you not read this post ?
They removed the MAFS because it was making it run worse (when it should be the other way around). Which seems pretty friggin odd.
did you try another MAFS just to remove that part from the list of suspects?
tried three different mafs
and one different ecu
i think somthing the maf is controlling is messing up
Maybe your MAFS ground is no good?
is your Idle air control valve hooked up? was it cleaned and adjusted during teh rebuild?
this isn’t a timing issue is it?
i highly doubt it is a timing issue, as tha car starts up quite quickly and without tha mafs it runs normally, doesnt shake or anything, just idles at 1500 rpms smoothly.
and as for tha mafs ground i believe there is 3 wires, white, black, black white stripe. right?
white stripe is power, and i believe the other black wire is the ground? am i correct? cuz i dont wanna fry anything.
wiring problem
wiring problem? like do you mean theres a connector not connected or you mean like the harness hacked, and not done correctly?
okay so i fixed the problem
the iac valve was sticking
sprayed some wd40 in their and it fixed the problem
but now i think i have a distributor timing problem because the car jus dosn’t wasnt to go past 5500 rpms
and the engine feels weak, i press ont he gas and it revs abnormally when under load
as if theirs no torque
=D>
:pat:
:stickpoke:
your welcome…
 thanks
for timing is the # 1 piston suppesed to be at T.D.C
cuz in the manual it says somthing about 20 Degrees B.T.DC
