obviously it was our first game all playing together, so you’d figure we wouldnt do TOO great. but we were ok. we just need to fix a couple things over time.

some notes from the game:

  • Defense jumping up. i’ve noticed we did it a decent amount of times. we cant do it too much cus the other team will start goal hanging. we got caught having just one defender out there a lot today. u can obviously do it on occasion, but i noticed it was happening a lot.

  • Pass more. we dont wanna be going end to end without passing the puck too much. especially if you’re playing defense, we might not get coverage back in our end if someone doesnt come back. keep it simple, pass and communicate.

  • Watch the front of our net. we always need someone infront of our net. it’s a beginners mistake that will lead to many goals if nobody is there.

  • BE AGGRESSIVE. this was prolly our biggest fault tonight. we weren’t really jumping the opposing team when they were cruising into our end. we gotta create them turnovers.

  • Shifts we good. we did great on our shifts. no one was staying out there too long. one thing everyone hates, is someone who wont come off after a few minutes. didnt have to worry about that tonite.

hopefully you guys wont think of me as a cock for mentioning those few notes. it was just a few things we gotta watch out for when we’re playing. id like to see us do good this session. if anyone else has any other things they wanna say, let’s hear it.

no cockiness…just the facts…

our defense bordered on horrendous…me included…im still in a forward state of mind, but i got much better near the end of the game as far as control and blocking shots and being aggressive…

and we really need to shoot more…

well one problem is its hard to call for a pass. i’m sure i’m not the only one who doesn’t know everyones name on the team.

the problem with not challenging when they are coming on the rush, is if one of the defenseman does challenge, pretty much every time it turned into a 3 on 1 for them. with having no offsides its retarded because the other players without the puck get so far behind u that u get caught and theres really nothing you can do about it. thats what i got out of it anyways…

I agree, no offsides sucks… But we’ll have to live with it.

I can see us only getting better. But we need to shoot more!
