Well I will locate some other accounts too then (with your help). If you’re saying this then it must be true cuz I know you do insane reading up on these things. I will bring that information to the table when pleading my case.
Here are some links to people that have had the diff. pin issue. Unfortunately it looks like most, if not all, have not received any type of warranty coverage. There’s always hope but even on a stock car they can claim abuse and thus void your warranty at will. That’s why a warranty on an Evo is a running joke on the forums. Plus the dealer can log into your ECU using the MUTTIII and get logs of your RPM spikes or launches.

My ECU is locked out, remember?
They have to prove any warranty claim denial when asked. If they claim abuse, they need proof of abuse. They need to “provide proof beyond question” and they dont have any.
I understand what they are doing. They are like any insurance company. They are trying to protect their own interests but they need to pay up when its their responsibility.
Even so, I have a lifetime warranty through Goldstein Mitsu (pending they do all my maintenance, and they have) The only reason I towed to Mangino was because it was physically closest and thats what the Diamond Assurance Program does, they AAA you to nearest dealer. I got a free tow.
Yes I forgot about your locked ECU. I hope it all works out for you and they honor your warranty. Drivetrain issues are tough though but I wish you luck.
I wanna know how they are gonna prove abuse
The chips on the doors/quarter panels? The public videos of you abusing the car? lol
bingo there ya go ben
Come to find out the diff pin is built poorly and there is inadequate oiling to the diff at higher speeds. Mitsu put stronger diff pins in the 2011 BUT that doesn’t fix the problem, it only delays it. Also, instead of increasing the oil flow rate, they treated the components to withstand higher heat levels. Although that in theory is not a bad idea, the lack of oil allows the pin to wobble in place thus backing out. Since I do a ton of highway driving this makes even more sense. I printed out a number of informative things and even found that Jack’s Transmission can rebuild the diff, drill shit, weld shit, upgrade shit and they throw a lifetime warranty onto the diff. :-0
Thus, as I previously stated, this is a manufacturing defect. One that Mitsubishi is currently aware of too :shifty
OH SHIT FORGOT THIS ONE TOO
Looks like neglect/abuse to me
They voided the warranty on my truck because of a boost gauge and exhaust. You’ll get voided.
Most factory warranties state that ALL work must be done buy a certified mitsubishi technician. You can’t even technically take a wheel off the car to replace a flat tire and they can void your warranty
It appears as if someone has mysteriously removed those gif files that I posted from the original hosting site
It all HAS been done by mitsu. Oil changes and clutch (only services it needed)
i dunno but that exhaust being put on in those pictures doesnt look like a dealers garage to me
How do you know what the dealers garage looks like? And exhaust install isn’t “regular maintenance” which is what mitsu’s warranty states. So yet again, in a failed attempt to talk me down, you’re really just talking out your ass.
looks like a bus garage or something to me hmmmm
It depends on the dealership too. I get my service done at Mangino and they’re fine with basic bolt-ons (exhaust, i/c piping, etc.) but if you let’s say put in an aftermarket clutch and you start having drivetrain issues then yeah most likely you’ll get voided. Other dealerships will try and void you for just about any modification you can think of. A lot of times it comes down to your relationship with the service staff.
In your case Ern it’s a known issue with Mitsu but as I stated previously it’s a tricky situation since you’re modded and it’s a drivertrain thing. If they try to void you saying your mods caused the issue then the burden of proof is on them to prove your mods caused the issue as stated in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson–Moss_Warranty_Act
Sorry a bus garage doesn’t look that dumpy.
IT would however have a yellow bus on a lift behind the car…
