He’s kind of Asian, yea…
Whenever I think of Ethiopian food I think of another member’s post on FB, “Have you ever had Ethiopian food? Neither have they.” lol
Paging Newman.
Sun Market on Niagara Street for Burmese food, in a rough area but good food
Sushi - Kunis, seabar, or papaya
Authentic Chinese - gin gin or Eastern Pearl
Dim Sum - no good places exist. It’s all frozen and reheated except maybe gin gin.
Viet/Thai - Saigon Bangkock or Thai orchid. Haven’t been to Pho 99 since the new ownership
Korean - Koreana but limited menu and no actual Korean BBQ, I’ve always had an addiction to the kim chee fried rice at Korean Express UB commons
I don’t like Indian Food!

Any reason why you won’t eat at a sushi place that’s Chinese owned, since all the sushi places in buffalo are Chinese owned.
Pho 99 isn’t soooo bad. I mean not as good as going to Toronto but as far as driving 20 min its one of the only options. The new owner is a good friends God Father. Id say the food is the same as months ago when it was run by the PO’s
The misses was telling me that the Jamaican place was opened by the family that had their home on that extreme home makeover show. Some friends tried it and said it was pretty decent!
I know what kind of fish and where they got their fishes from
man i can go on for days
cantina loco is good mexican but the service can be rough, and it’s a bit ridiculous trying to get a table. i order take out cuz it’s too frustrating dealing with inside.
my favorite restaurant in buffalo = seabar, but not necessarily for the sushi, they just straight kill the dining game and it’s not that expensive
papaya has the best pad thai in my opinion. whoever said it’s his brother, your bro is the man. best of luck on his spot in rochester.
best sushi is in the suburbs out by my parents crib…fuji grill 3…they have a happy hour 4-6 weekdays, ask about it and they’ll give u half off sushi. it’s super worth it.
i need to try gin gin’s dim sum…isn’t it only on certain days/times? never had dim sum before, really want to try it
gonna drop a gem on ya here…best jamaican in buffalo (havent tried mamas yet) is Caribbean experience on bailey…but the place is sketchy as shit. it’s like an old bar, still functions as a club, and the owner is in the back room serving jerk. however, it’s REALLY fucking good. i go weekly when i can. consider it pretty much a takeout spot.
the spanish spot on niagara is ok my friends like it but it’s not really that dope to me, and there’s a middle eastern spot on hertel that does shawarma that’s not bad either (the spot with the stickers on the window). i don’t remember either names but you’ll know if you look em up online or just drive by, theyre obvious spots.
i’d say this covers my favorite “ethnic” spots in buffalo…
I don’t get why we don’t have restaurant meets! Also side note to dstar, I noticed Nektar doesn’t have those nights anymore??
GODDAMNIT
I was getting hopeful about halfway through the thread. lowest brow.
Nah its actually insane on fridays now…i wasnt there last two weeks due to out of town shows but we had progressive house guys rocking…come thru this friday and say hi! Get there before 12, last night guess we were at capacity at 1230-3
For Asian I like…
Jasmine Thai
Saigon Bangkok (Thai and Viet)
King and I
Sun International Foods (just went there Friday for lunch, most excellent it is Thai and Burmese)
Saigon Cafe
Red Pepper (Chinese and Viet, excellent Pho)
For Indian…
Tandoori is my favorite but can be pricey
Taste of India
Star of India
India Gate
For Mediterranean
Meeza or Falafel Bar I love
I will have to try some of the Korean places, not sure if I could get my wife to try Ethopian, I will pretty eat anything at least once.
For Asian I love king and I on Kensington.
I hate Saigon cafe on elmwood. Went there the service was poor at best, and the food was flavorless and undercooked. Serious let down after being told so many times to go there.
Interesting place is like 5 minutes from my house. I will have to try it for lunch when I work from home.

Definitely not the best, but it has been ok for lunch. I work downtown so options are limited.

Does anyone know of any good Puerto Rican (really want some Mofongo) or Cuban places here.
Also would love to find a place that did Jewish dishes, for some reason I love them.
I will most likely swing by as long as I’m not working!
+1 to this!
Well it is restaurant week
