Ever get depressed over your s13 when comparing to other really fast cars?

So I love my car which I’m sure most car owners do, but guys who love their cars even more when they modify them or play around with them, get attached to them even more. Always striving to make it better, faster, whatever one’s goal is.

Well when you improve upon the car, you get excited, thrilled, overjoyed, happy… and then you get used to it and want more… so you try more… or… you see a better car and aspire to be like that car or better… or you feel down.

The other day I raced an M roadster, it had really really fat tires, but it almost spun out in the bends and he had to correct his steering, it just didn’t have enough road holding… I overtook it even. The car looked awesome, but I was surprised that I could outhandle it and hold the road better… It boosted my ego even more after stripping the interior lol… even though it may not be a major improvement it did improve the car’s handling and road holding… but woopie do not THAT much… Even over the course of owning the car for the last year or so, babying it, modifying it… i love the car, I am able to outhandle and hold the road better at really fast speeds vs alot of new sports cars, modified cars and whatnot… or match if not succeed.

Today however… I saw a lotus exige… holy crap… I followed this car around for a while until I got to my destination… it was absolutely staggering. It was amazing.

The wide tires, the wide body, the low body, the AMAZING exhaust note, the AMAZING stability. The way it changed lanes and cornered can be best described as strafing in an fps like quake or doom. Frickin unbelivable… I believe it was even modified because it sat lower than the exiges I saw on the internet… it was modified, I believe…

I never get that impressed when seeing a ferrari or lambo or viper on the road… but this exige… it’s everything I want in a car. It made me absolutely speechless, amazing would be an absolute understatement… and it made me depressed… yeah, it made me and my s13 feel like utter shit… ah well…

You ever get depressed when you put alot of effort into making your car fast and then you see a really really really fast car and you think to yourself, no matter how much money you spend on this chassis, suspension, etc… yours will never be as fast…

I remember when bings said he was able to whoop a lotus elise or exige’s ass but it still couldn’t outhandle it in it’s nimbleness … just had better road holding or something of that sorts if I recall… but… it made me think… an s13 will still be an s13 it can not really match an exige or elise :frowning: What a depressing reality lol. I still love my car though… just I wish I had that exige so badly…

I love a light nimble super fast car… that can handle and road hold better than anything else and then fast in acceleration and top speed… I don’t care even about the stereo in a car, or ac none of that… and this exige is exactly that…

You know an exige without the options weighs only around 850kg… man with the whole s13 stripped to the absolute max you could probably never get to that amazing weight.

wow so the s13 isn’t the be-all end-all of cars?

great discovery

an exiage, really? not an elise?

Yeah, the look on corvette owners faces’ are priceless when they realize their attempt to leave you “in their dust” failed miserably…

I used to want to build a lotus 7 replica years ago… I believe I’ll end up doing that after turning this car into a track car… but even the 7… makes me still want this same exige… it’s like… falling in love, when you see it, you know it.

Ah well… so much for my s13… its gona be track only when I get the funds to get a real family car.

I went through a phase where I wanted to part out my s13 and get an FD3S or an s2000.

The two cars I really admire are the z06 and this exige… no doubt…

Edit: I just checked autotrader, there is a yellow and polar blue 07 exige s on sale, both around 85k cdn$. damn…

I don’t get depressed cause of that. If I see a nice car, I just admire it. I don’t become emo.

Ahmed, you’re too insecure about your 240.

Meh you get what you can offord i guess lol i am happy with my s13 if i won the lottery 20 million ide still keep my s13 and the plans i have…it would just go alot faster time wise completeing those plans …then ide prolly buy more 240sx and make a race car…oh …and buy a ferrari 360 spider casue i love those cars…but yeah. i dont get to upset when i see nicer cars…i just admire them casue i like cars.

Hahahaha I am almost sure that if you won that kind of money you would not keep your S13. Hell I would give mine to a friend as soon as the got the $$.

being jelous should not make you bummed out. if that is the case then you will never be happy. well that is how I think about it, be happy with what you have worked for and earned.
stop being a puss/.

hahahahahaha @ mark

Fucken hell, I want that exige so bad :stuck_out_tongue: 80k is alot of money though. I rather invest 20k in building a well built car like the lotus 7 or donkevoort (like the one that set the record on nurburgring)… as I’ve intended to. Even if I was making that sort of money it makes me wonder if I would even get it though… could invest in a pretty damn good house with that sort of money, feed alot of poor people in small countries.

I was just so impressed by that exige though… more than seeing any damn ferrari or lambo or whatever of that sorts or even driving the viper I drove once… It just blew me away… absolutely brilliant car… I’ve never seen anything like it… it was like out of a video game, the way it cornered… frickin ferraris have bodyroll, this thing though was something completely dif.

I wonder if this guy tracks the car, I’d love to go to the track just to even watch it. I’m now obsessed with the lotus exige… The best two cars I’ve driven are the m5 and the viper… and my little s13… but this… I gotta find some rich guy and convince him to let me drive it :stuck_out_tongue:

exige’s are only $40k usd. do not buyan exotic in canada, buy in the US and import it.

yeah i killled that elise but because my car has twice the horsepower and alot fatter tires and we were on the highway, albeit a very twisty bit. on a tight road course he would have killed me.

90% is driver dude. if that bmw owner knew how to drive he wouldnt have lost it. If newman had balls of steel and his passenger wasnt a wuss he woudl have been going harder in the elise… but i still would have beat him.

S13s are 15+ year old rust buckets, you cant compair it to a proper car.

ditto for EGs

Eg’s underbodys do not rot out.

My frame and underbody is thankfully in good condition no rust…

I’ll get the whole chassis redone, sandblasted, stitched up, caged and properly painted etc… when I save up

By that time you could of bought a M coupe.

Or you could just throw some wide fenders on your EG hatch and you’ll have the same thing (looks wise) IMO… I am about as big a fan of the M coupe as I am of the EG.

(no personal hurt aimed at fellow 240/EG (passed and/or present) owners… Scotty, Ed, Dip etc.)

Neat little tail gate tho… cuteness points for sure

haha EG’s don’t even have a proper frame that runs along the car… my mechanic saw a few which had engine swaps and the roof of each one was twisted… you could see it by just looking at it from behind…

oh and I don’t get depressed when I see a nice car  I just drool over it…

Hahahaha Yeah that’s the best! Only it happened to me with a guy in a Porsche Boxster. He almost had tears going down his face when he realized he was at redline while I was still pulling away at the end of second, his girlfriend was sitting in the passenger seat I looked over, I smiled and winked at her and I put it in 3rd and I was gooooooooooone!

You know the 2001 boxster does 0-60 in about 5.5-6.0secs thats relatively beatable by oh so many cars today. When you buy a porsche or bmw now a days, you merely buy the name. Yeah they have decently good from factory handling and of course quality, but still, merely buying the name.

An evo or wrx sti and their many variants can keep up, compete with and even beat alot of the exotic sports vehicles on the market… but they’re considered toy cars, not exotics.

Seeing best motoring/hot version touge videos and generally jap/australian s chassis videos including recent redline time attack videos makes me realize an s chassis has lots of potential, but hey, it’s just a matter of would you spend as much money on an old car to make it new/better or just buy a new car for the same money.

In the end, if one realy made one’s s chassis car awesome in performance, it would remain ugly in appearance… sadly.

I wonder if anyone has done any radical changes to the body though, aside from that ugly ass widebody kit (i forget the name there’s two variants by the sme company i think its UK or swedish company something like that) and the enzo wanabe body kit. Rice some may say but hey…

The one thing I love in the s13 is it’s simplicity and rawness, I once told someone I love the s13 and s15 interiors, and thought they’re awesome, i got called a moron, but whatever, it has everything you need, although I prefer the 300zx interior. If you look at the interior of the older lambos and ferraris you’ll see thye have just an elongated simple center console and nothing else. Just pure driving fun… I can never see myself designing a luxury car… or admiring one…

Cars like the mclaren, the exige, minimalist cars, these things damn impress me and aspire me.

I like you and all but, Have you ever actually driven a nice Porsche>??
Only getting a name. Just numbers are not want makes a car a car.

Hell my 240 is faster in a line than our 90 911 C4 but holy crap I would take the “Slower” Porsche any day.

Choose you words carfully

I drove one of the early boxsters actually, but unfortunately not a 911. I was driven in a 97 911 tt though… the later being an absolute brute… it was modified. It felt like being hit with hammers in the back lol (in other words brutally mean and fast).

The only thing is to me as much as i like s13s, they look ugly, i mean they have their charm as a car, but they are damn ugly cars, they’re showing old age… even if I get the sil80 look, even if i get version select 1 bumers and the rest, even if i do an s15 front end and a nice widebody kit, thats it, there’s all there is to it. Like putting makeup on a man. He’s not gona look like a woman.

The 70s 911s despite being nearly 40 years old, still look amazing… and thats the thing about them. They have character. The old 911s before the turbos were slower than the crappiest of civics, but they still look sweet. I personally love every 911 since 70s-early 90s. When they changed the front lights… I hated it. The new 911 though went back to the older like designs which are awesome. Then of course the 959… I wish I could even see that car in person…

By the way before buying a 240, I was going to get an mr2 (mk1 or mk2, although I was disillusioned at only getting the mk1 despite its ultra ugliness) and a porsche 944 turbo s
