Here is my stab at it…a regular WRX is fairly common and somewhat cheap. Hell I see lame looking olds driving them. I would say a “fair” comparison would be to compare how many STi’s you see compared to Evo’s.

This isn’t even a debate. EVO hands down. The only advantage that the WRX has over the EVO is gas mileage. Heck i’d go with an EVO over the STi.
EVO’s can be bought for mid 20’s if u look around. Heck of a deal if u ask me.
Definitely Evolution, if for nothing else but the styling standpoint.
ya. if you were comparing to the STI you might have to think about it… but i would go with the Evo.

See I like the WRX styling, availablility and price but I think the EVO wins in quality, performance, modability. Correct me if I’m wrong.
As pretty much everyone else already said, you are comparing car from two different levels, as the wrx is lower model of the STI and the evo doesn’t really come in a lower model, just the lower trimmed RS.
Modability (at least for increased power) is definitely cheaper with the evo. Both seem to be able to be set-up for autocross for similar pricetags. Quality of build seems to favor subaru (and I agree) but people will go both ways on that one. A WRX can be made quite fast but one of the very first things that usually needs to be replaced is the stock tranny with an STI unit ($$$). Just my $.02 as someone that has been pondering between an STI, EVO, or ???.

Yes you cannot compare WRX’s with EVO’s. STi is the EVO’s main competition. I have had 5 Subarus 98 RS, 00 RS, 02 WRX and currently an 05 STi and 99RS…I have never had any problems with them. The quality/reliability definately goes to Subaru. The STi is the better daily driver, hardly any lag, more low end power, better AWD system, better interior (doesn’t look like a regular Lancer’s interior). EVO is the better track car. It’s got the suspension/steering for it, better seats. I like the styling on both. I am puzzled why I don’t see more EVO’s? I hardly ever see them on the road.

fucking AWD…:booty: Thats the only car I lost to as well. They just dominate off the line. 1/4 mile would do me justice though and I’m sure Whitey as well.
