They are both great cars. I had the pleasure of driving an Evo X - MR a month ago, and it is much nicer than the older gen. evos. It had a tune (no hardware) and the car pulled pretty well. The best thing about it was that, it even has a non Mitsu transmission!
If I was in the market for a new car, I’d certainly lean toward the STi due to the practicality and the lack of driver correcting electronics.
What other cars would you get in the same price range that would perform like these?
On looks alone I’m happy that the STi looks better than the Evo for a change.
Wagon is rather ugly. Evo X stock is much nicer. I’ll take the evo since I drove both and bought the x. Just waiting to put some money into it - it’ll be a great ride next spring.
I’m waiting to see what falls apart on each car as people mod them. The new STi rear suspension had some issues in professional rally use, but nowhere else. The Evo X foot pedals have been breaking. Other than that I haven’t seen much good info on points of failure.
I don’t expect anything new or surprising from the STi, but people haven’t pushed the limits of the new Evo tranny or engine much yet so we’ll see how that goes.
Can’t say I was a fan of the new look when they both came out, but they’re starting to grow on me. I personally wouldn’t mind picking up a ralliart sometime in the near future for a DD.
I really really really like the new STi’s. New Evo, I just wish it looked more different then the “regular” Lancers. My buddy stopped in front my house with a silver Lancer and I thought it was an Evo:meh: Also, why isnt there an option for one not the other???
