well i got my 91’ 240sx at dec…
but is not insured yet, so i just put it at the shop where i worked
and park it outside everyday and put it back in the nite…
recently i’ve notice the exhaust it pissing out water…
where ever i drive teh car theres 2 trail of water marks…
and couple days ago i left the car running outside to recharge the battery(cuz it got a hard start) and got so bz afterward i don realize i left it running after almost 3 hrs of idling outside
when i went out and try and drive it back it
i notice theres a pond(?) of ice on the ground where the exhaust tips were…
and it still pisses water when i drive the car into the shop…
ne ideas???
oyea forgot to mention…
the car is still running KA24DE and bone stock
my neon’s tailpipe points down… when i rev it hard after a few mins of warming up it leaves a great splash watermark on the floor… almost makes it seem powerfull
Water vapour is a by-product of combustion… if the car doesn’t get a good chance to warm up, the water vapour will condense in the muffler and resonator, and thats what you are seeing on the ground. If its a whole lot of vapour coming from the exhaust (as in you are filling the parking lot full of steam), keep an eye on the coolant level; if it goes down quickly it might be your headgasket leaking internally (I doubt it in your case).
i understand that water is a by product from combustion and the cat…
and i know have some water out from ur exhaust is gd cuz it also means the engine and cat is in prefect working order…
and i also understand the warming up part…
but my last case was the engine is in full operating temp(cuz it idle for almost 3 hours)
and water keep coming out…
owells…
thx for the input guys…
i guess i’ll need to keep my eyes on it when i really start driving it…
i don get to drive it till the lease on my protege5 is done…
it brings a tear to my eye when i see water pissing out of my exhaust, it doesn’t happen often. u gotta understand i had alot of shitboxes in my life, and i wanna cry with joy when i see water!!
and seeing water is a great sign imo. think about it, its better than black or blue or white smoke! LOL
its a good sign, don’t stress it, if u were burning coolant or oil from a bad headgasket, the smoke would be white or blue.
i have a 92 maxima sitting on my driveway (which is slanted), and it has a lil hole in the muffler (which i fixed today). i didnt start it much when i had it and never let it heat up properly causing a lot of water to collect in there. The point is that if u dont want to see the water (if it hurts ur ego lol), let the car warm up nicely. when ur muffler is nice and hot, it will evaporate all that water and u will never see it. good luck.
