Has anyone successfully disputed a violation with EZ pass? I just want to get the 25.00 admin fee dropped…
essentially my wallet got stolen - i canceled my credit card - card was linked to ez pass - i jump on NYS highway - get nailed for having no money in the account.
Yes. I successfully disputed the $25 charge and didn’t have to pay it. Call them up they are typically helpful, but as always with customer service it usually depends on how the persons day is.
just call them up and explain your situation as politely as possible. Let them know that you want to pay the toll and that you have a new card number so it doesn’t happen again. They should drop it for you.
I did this when I got in an accident. I switched the ez pass to the rental car plate but didn’t know it took a day to go into effect (don’t know why, but thats what they said) and they nailed me with a $25 charge 4 months later for using my ez pass on the wrong car. I just called and let them know what happened… the girl took care of it.
Really? I have EZ Pass in my talon and have a new plate every year and I haven’t ever gotten a bill for using it on the wrong plate.
I did have my EZ pass not work once and I was charged $25. I called and told them it stopped working and they sent me a new one and removed the charge.
i have had them dropped before. My bike do not register all the time with the easy pass. You send them a letter with the amount of the toll and thats gone.
in your case deposit the money in your account… then send them a letter explaining the case and thats it.
It wasn’t just the fact that I had a new plate/car, it was the fact that I changed the plate in their system and used it the same day, which they said, after the fact, that it takes a day to go into effect and thats why I got the fine. I received the fine 4 months later for some reason.
I have gotten 4 letters for fines in the mail over the past 3 years (I only have 2 tags for 3 cars and forget sometimes to swap the tag). Everytime I have just paid the toll, either $.50, $.75 or $1.00, without the $25 surcharge. They cash the check and have not had any issues.
i’ve gotten them to drop it before. All I did was call. They seemed nice enough and understanding of what happened.
